Illuminae Discussion Thread - Spoiler Friendly!

Hi bookaholics! We hope you have had a good reading month! And we hope you have enjoyed our April book of the month - Illuminae!
Use this thread to let us know what you thought of the book!

Personally, I was pretty dissapointed with this book. I loved the creativity of it, but the formatting was just so annoying to read, in my opinion. The characters I found quite annoying, and I felt that there wasn't really much of a unique story to the plot. However, I'm very interested to see what you all thought about it too! I hope I'm not alone in my opinion!!

I did like AIDEN though (was that how it was spelled?) I thought it was a unique aspect to the story, and was my favourite character by far! I'm interested to hear who your favourite character was too!

It's a shame you didn't like it more, Jen!

I personally loved the unique formatting... I thought it was interesting seeing diagrams, maps, and reports. I thought it gave extra depth to the story.

I do think that it was a bit discomforting at first because there wasn't actually dialogue... but I got used to it.

The last 300 pages had me on the edge of my seat, though! "Am I not merciful?" is haunting to me! XD

I loved the formatting and the flow. It was so different that it created an experience that was like nothing I'd ever read. I loved the funny sarcastic relationship between Kady and Ezera, and I really liked how we got to experience their relationship. I was bouncing around at like 3 am finishing the book, and I cant wait for the next book!

Yes! I loved their IMs! Plus every time they got "serious" was so adorable.

I almost cried when Aidan said that he was dead. I couldn't believe it. When it was revealed that he was alive I jumped up in relief. :D

I'm a horrible person and looked in the back before AIDAN said he died, and so I was shocked when AIDAN said Ezera was dead! But then I remembered what Kady told L. about her son, and I was like, are you serious?? I was confused for a bit! But I loved the reunion! It was so cute!

I was not excited about reading this book at all and maybe that's why my absolute LOVE for it runs so deep. I gushed and gushed in my GR review - something I never do! Kady was a smidge annoying to me in her "i can fix everything by myself and nope not gonna ask for any help at all in this extremely dire situation" attitude, but overall I found her likeable. Cannot wait for a sequel!
