Amber | 5 comments I read this book when I was in grade school late 1990s/early 2000s while I was in school. Really only details I can remember is that it was set in Holland and may have been based on a true story/real events. I think a young boy was the main character. There was a giant flood, I think that a dam broke and the boy escaped, but his little sister and their nanny died because the nanny took the child and hid in cabinet/wardrobe in their house.
Any help or clues would be appreciated....this is one of those books that has just haunted me and Ive never been able remember what it was.
Many thanks!

The Tide In The Attic by Aleid Van Rhijn? Story of a family, contains a map.

Amber | 5 comments I'm so excited to check out these two options...and see if they're it! I'm thinking it must have been about that Holland Flood in the 1950s!! That should make it much easier to track down.

Amber, are you still looking for this or did you find it?

Amber | 5 comments Hello! I am still looking for this book. The ones offered are definitely in the same category but don’t have the detail that I remember most strongly. That the nanny/maid hide with the smallest child in a wardrobe and are drowned while the older child survives the flooding.

Amber ~~
You can "bump" your thread every month or so. This pushes your thread back to the top of the folder instead of languishing here on page 179 where fewer eyes will see it. Get back in the game! Bump!
You can do this by typing a new comment at the end of the thread, or even by typing the word "bump."
Good luck!
