I am sure it's a winner! :) I have my own personal autographed copy and I loved meeting the author. She had a very good vocabulary and was very personable. I remember as she was answering questions that I thought this was going to be so good!!!! I a so excited to finally begin it!!

A few book friends of mine were talking about copyright and such and it turns out that her Delirium trilogy and I believe this book weren't her idea. It was someone else's idea and she was given the idea to write it.

I am sure she is a wonderful person but I don't like the fact that the idea didn't come from her but someone else! :(

I Love this author. she wrote one of my favorite books :)
this one is slow and steady - her books are a lot of character development. I know reviews are mixed, but I really loved it :D

Jacquelyn, I'd agree if she somehow stole the ideas, but if she was suggested a story line and then wrote it herself then I'm okay with that. Even Shakespeare borrowed the idea of Romeo and Juliet from Arthur Brookes' The Tragicall Hystory of Romeus and Juliet. Lol

I just hope it's good!!

I still love it though! I agree with Vicki, if someone made a suggestion to her then I'm that. Editors and Publishers make suggestions all the time to authors. So yeah, I'm ok with that! :D

Yeah, I know what you mean. Makes it more authentic, I guess. I heard that Meg Cabot wrote because it was suggested to her by her publishers and my friend that told me about it didn't like it as much because of that and she loooovvveess Meg Cabot! lol!

I understand where you're coming from, and I also think it's more amazing if the author came up with his/her own idea; however, give me that same idea and let ME "write" a book and see how amazing I'd be!!! Lol Get my drift?

Oh yeah, I'd create such an uproar of laughter that I'd surpass ALL their sales combined!! Lol

I'm a good "academic" writer but fall WAY short as a creative writer.

When I was in college we had to do an explication of René Descartes, a philosopher. I read his book over and over and just couldn't understand parts of it so I called my girlfriend and asked her if she understood it and she said yes. So I asked her if I could go to her house and work on it with her and she said of course and so we sat down and she explained all the parts that I didn't understand but that she did.

When we got our papers back I got an A on it and she got an F. She asked me how could I get an A while she got an F but it was her that understood it and explained it to me? She had to do a re-write on her paper. All I could say is that I write well, especially when I am relating academic information. I don't know why but some of us write better and some of us are more creative. God did not give me much of a creative part of the brain!!! LOL

Just shows how different our brains work differently I guess! :D

Exactly! And she was SO angry with ME! LOL I told her that I couldn't help it if I wrote it more clearly or whatever it was that is the reason(s) I got and A and Charlotte got an F. She wasn't the only one in class who had to do a re-write.

It's 408 pages with no chapter numbers. Instead we have days of the week and alternating POVs for Hether and Dodge.

Should we do a schedule? We can do 100 pages a day for 4 days or something else? lol! Let me know! :D

We're doing about 125 or so a day for The Forever Song. Do you think you can manage another 100 a day for this one? And you have the hard cover too, right?

Aw! She is the only family my husband or I have here. She is actually the reason we chose Missouri to transfer to because we wanted to be close to family. It was either here or Arlington because my youngest brother lives in Texas. So yeah, it's nice being close to her. :D

Okay, I finished the reading for day one, pg. 1-106 and stopped at Saturday July 2.

So far I really like the story and the characters.

Heather: (view spoiler)[I was really disappointed in what appeared to be her real reason for joining Panic: her breakup with Matt. I felt like she didn't care about her own life at that point, feeling rejected and unloved. I wonder why she feels so unloved though and like no one will ever love her. She has friends who care and love her. (hide spoiler)]

Nat: (view spoiler)[ I'm not so sure about Nat because I was taken aback when she agreed to split the winnings in half if she or Heather won. Then she turned right around and offered to split it in half with Dodge. Say what? Looks like she's playing both sides. I'm watching her. (hide spoiler)]

Dodge: (view spoiler)[ I love him. I know he's not popular and seen as a wuss, but I think he has a good heart, he's protective of Nat and I really hope (at this point) that she'll give him a chance. I guess he's like the underdog and I love the underdog. (hide spoiler)]

Bishop: (view spoiler)[ I don't have a real good sense of him yet. I don't have any problems with him and I am pretty sure he's a good friend to Heather. I think the sexual innuendos are cute and innocent enough. (hide spoiler)]

Thoughts of plot: (view spoiler)[ I thought this game was something that the entire tire had bought into, but now that I see the kids ran when the cops came and the participants are breaking into houses, I can see that it's more a game that the seniors are privy to and the community most likely knows about or suspects Panic but not the specifics. Heather stole the gun and could be in big trouble for doing that. I mean she takes photos (evidence of possession) and Bishop says he'll get rid of the gun. I guess I'll have to wait and see how it plays out.

I think that the students that already jumped at the water tower should have gotten SOME credit for it. It's not their fault the cops came, or perhaps the kids that hadn't jumped at that point should have had to make it up. (view spoiler)[ (hide spoiler)] (hide spoiler)]

I finished with the two chapters that are July 8 and July 9 and OMG!

Those were two intense chapters! I have always had a fear of (view spoiler)[ dying in a fire, and when the kids were trapped in that house and nearly suffocating I was feeling it! I wonder if someone did mess with the door handle to trap them in there...Ray perhaps? Then that poor kid died in the fire. Not good for any of the kids involved in Panic, but especially whoever actually started the fire! I think Heather could be under suspicion. Ugh! I mean a LIFE is gone! Kids and their stupid games and sense of immortality! (hide spoiler)]

I am now 56% finished. It's gotten really good! I am at Wednesday, July 27 but haven't read that part yet.

I feel so bad for Lily and Heather. Being homeless is her impetus for getting back into the game, so maybe she'll actually win the $67,000, and in her case I don't blame her for deciding not to share with Nat after she duped her!
