Beginning- Japanese student Hiro Adachi goes on an inter rail trip to Berlin. He was originally going to invite his girlfriend Akiko, and 2 of his other friends along with their girlfriends. But then, Hiro broke up, so he went alone. Hiro meets a so called businessman on the train.

Body-The businessman introduces himself as Erik Björnsson, and is described by Hiro as a shark, due to his looks reminding Hiro of a shark. As the man goes to the toilet, Hiro gets his phone switched up and reads a couple of suspicious texts containing an equipment delivery and fee collection of sorts. After that, Hiro thinks he was nearly assassinated by being pushed down the rails by Erik. Hiro then goes to the Brandenburg Gate, a location which one of the texts stated. A black BMW pulls up beside Hiro, and the Windows roll down to reveal a well dressed person named Karl Meier, who claims to be a member of the BNS. He takes Hiro to a "safehouse", which turns out to be just a block of flats. As he gets suspicious of the BNS, he escapes after making a run to the fire escape, which he then manages to escape.

Body pt.2 and ending- Hiro then goes to the Hotel Adlon, the other place stated in the other text. He calls a meeting with the manager, who then says that there is just a regular customer in the room 319, the room that Hiro thinks the Shark would have the resident assassinated in. After that, he sees a priest, who turns out to be the Shark. Hiro then goes to the back kitchen and slips on a uniform, then heads to room 319. He then meets one of room 319's customer's (Mr Schmidt) bodyguard, Franz Schubert. They head to Schubert's room, room 320, and discuss matters there. After giving Hiro his number , Schmidt then proceeds to room 319, to protect Mr Schmidt. The Shark forces one of the hotel workers to open the door for the room 320, then kills the worker. Hiro calls Schmidt quickly and he breaks down the door and manages to kill the Shark. In the end, Hiro is eating at a fancy restaurant with Schubert, with the bill being paid by Mr Schmidt, who rewards Hiro with a very large sum of money. Schubert helps Hiro in the end by making him apologize to Akiko.

Brat Farrar
Author : Josephine Tay
Rating : 3/5

The story starts with an introduction on the Ashbys, an English countryside poverty-stricken family who lived in Latchetts which is located in a fictional village of Clare in the South of England and this took place after the World War II.
This family consisted of an aunt named Beatrice Ashby, also called as “Aunt Bee”, some teenagers including a twin, called Simon and Patrick.
Aunt Bee had always tried her best to keep her small family alive by turning her stable to an equestrian and had planned to gave the business to Simon soon as Patrick, whom is believed to kill himself.
Here comes Brat Farrar, a young man who lately had returned to his hometown from America who became an expert horseman after several years of training in the US.
Despite his familiar look with Patrick, a stranger named Alec Loding who pretended to be Simon approached Brat and asked him to playact as Patrick and receive trust as well as estate from Aunt Bee since he is a few minutes older than Simon.
Since Alec is very fond of the Ashbys, Latchetts and the village of Clare, he was able to share every detail regarding these to Brat who was even more interested after knowing that the Ashbys had a stable.
Promising Alec that he would share half of the money that he obtained, Brat started having tutors with Alec and learnt as much as possible to become Patrick.
After that, Brat went to Mr Sandal, the Ashbys’ lawyer’s officer and convinced him with the story he made to fill in the account of Patrick’s missing years and said that he changed his name to “Brat Farrar” after running away.
Two weeks passed and Mr Sandal approved Brat’s story and informed Aunt Bee about this news. Bee as well as the other Ashbys welcomed “Patric” warmly and let him live with them. However, everyone soon found out that Simon murdered Patrick and that Brat was their cousin.

Elaine | 31 comments The Mayor of Casterbridge

The story opens with a man named Michael Henchard and his wife, Susan, traveling with their baby daughter, Elizabeth-Jane. They stop at a fair near the town of Casterbridge and Henchard gets completely drunk, not in his original self he offers to sell his wife and daughter and sold them to a sailor for five guineas. When he is sober he tries to trace his wife and daughter but to no avail, because of what happened he swears not to drink any more alcohol for 20 years. After a few months he gives up and settles down in the town of Casterbridge.

Eighteen years Susan and Elizabeth-Jane (the second since the original Elizabeth-Jane died at infancy and this was the sailors' daughter) travel to Casterbridge to find Michael Henchard as the sailor, Newson, has died. By this time Michael Henchard has grown from being a lowly harvester to a hay and grain merchant, he is wealthy now and is even elected to be the Mayor of Casterbridge. Susan and Henchard decides to keep their marriage long ago a secret and make it seem as if she fell in love with Henchard and wanted to marry him. Henchard hires a man named Donald Farfrae to help him, and he quickly whips Henchards' business into shape. Elizabeth-Jane develops feelings for Farfrae. Farfrae and Henchard were the best of friends Henchard told confided everything to Farfrae; about his drunken experience and his relationship with a woman,Lucetta, who was head over heels in love with him, he was going to marry her but Susan showed up.

Henchard grows jealous of Farfrae and fires him, however, Farfrae starts up his own business which soon became successful. Susan dies and Henchard tells Elizabeth-Jane he is her biological father but Henchard was wrong since his daughter dies at infancy when he auctioned her and Susan. As the drama continues we can consider the amount of ironies: from Lucetta living with Elizabeth-Jane, Farfrae falling in love with Lucetta, Farfrae not knowing anything about Lucetta's past relationship with Henchard, Henchard's business fails and he gets bankrupt, he works for Farfrae, people found out about Lucetta and Henchards past relationship, Lucetta dies.

Newson suddenly shows up! (He did not die, so confusing) and Henchard lies to him by saying that Elizabeth-Jane has died. Then Farfrae falls in love with Elizabeth-Jane and they are now thinking of marriage.

In the end Henchard leaves Casterbridge telling Elizabeth-Jane the truth and telling Newson the truth. Elizabeth-Jane becomes furious. However, after she is married with Farfrae she feels sorry for her stepfather and searches for Henchard only to find him dead with a letter written for her.

This story is unbelievably confusing /:|
