I read a SciFi/Romance series a while back.

One if the supporting characters is an alien guy named Muffin, (it's considered a very masculine name on his home planet). Muffin is a royal guard to the space prince guy (the hero of the first book), and not the main character, but he does get his own story in the series eventually, (the 3rd book... I think).
