I don't understand he BR point advantage though. Often times I do more BRs with people I don't know than with Allison

Yea I agree with Berit, we all just have to agree to disagree. I'm just worried about losing the possibility to do these challenges with my friend, and that's why I'm so invested in this.
From my point of view, I've been playing these challenges for over a year and have been waiting for random to put Megan and me in the same team, but it never does. Not once. We were only on the same Hangman team in July (I think) because we had asked and that's it. She's the reason I joined this group and started doing the challenges. We're co-mods in a different group and we really wanted to be on the same team for once.
@Maddison, I did ask -- for this challenge -- and now there's being a big stink about requesting to be on a team with one person. It's really disheartening and frustrating. :(
Melanie you have definitely paid your dues, I think you girls deserve to be on a team together, for once!Because you have spent many many months not on the same team :-)
I'm still not getting how it's unfair though, besides the whole point of choosing teams not being the point.
I just think if Sarah and Abbie let two people do it, they'd have to let everyone who asks do it. And as was brought up before, there are more and more people doing it each month. It creates mass chaos.
That is the whole point. Choosing teams is rather unfair, because you know how your partner reads.
But I don't see how that creates an advantage? Knowing her reading style doesn't make me able to use it to my advantage or make me read faster /: I just know what she'll be reading, but most teams announce that anyways
Yeah, but if everyone is able to choose partners, that means that two people who read fast could choose each other, and that gives that team an unfair advantage. And that's just in general, not about you and Allison.
Just my two cents but I didn't want to say anything either but it really didn't seem fair to be asking who to on a team with every month, once sure and with so few teams it should switch around to where you could again eventually but being on separate teams wouldn't stop you from chatting with your friend.
Hello! It has come to my attention that many of you think it is unfair that I ask to be grouped with my friend for this challenge. I see why you would think so. It could possibly provide an unfair advantage if two strong readers were paired on the same team. It could result in an unfair amount of buddy reads. These are only some of the points people have made. I would completely agree with you, if any of these points applied to us.
However, in our situation, they don't. Many of you have noticed that Meaghan likes to read. She read 16 books last challenge and already 17 books for this challenge and plans to read many more. I, however, am your average serious team member. I, like many serious team members, aim to read 12-15 books for challenges. I managed to get 17 books last challenge due to shorter lengths. This challenge, I aim for 15, much like other serious team members. I can understand your complaint if I too were a "super reader", but I am just another one of you. Furthermore, Meaghan and I don't use our friendship to plan buddy reads early. This April, we have three buddy reads planned. And it's a series.
On the contrary, Meaghan and I talk about the book challenge daily. We use the challenge to challenge ourselves to try to read as many books as possible. We read so many things we never would have read. She also helps me keep updated with the group chat due to my phone's sucky notification system. In fact, I did not know this debate was happening until she told me about it!
With all my points said, I hope you understand why Meaghan and I enjoy being on the same team. I like being on a team with my friend not for the advantage, but for the sake of sharing something with my best friend. However, I will understand if Sarah decides to put us on separate teams for the next challenge.
Thank you,
Allison.
But won't all of that stuff be the same if you were on different teams? Then you'd actually be competing to read the most.
Girls, I think we have all made good points, and I think now we have unfortunately really put Sarah in a tough position.Just think about it when she wakes up in the morning to all of this!
Why don't we just drop it for now, and let the books drop where they may!
I know that not being on the same team doesn't stop us from talking, but it'll be so much different. We share conflicts and victories and losses now, being on the same team, and being able to talk them through with her just makes the whole challenge better in a way. I hope you all understand I'm not trying to make your thoughts less valid, I'm just trying to prove that we don't get an advantage from being on the same team and knowing each other, but I don't know what to say anymore to get you guys to believe me on that front. I'm going to back off on it now, and just hope it works out in a way that keeps the challenges as fun for me, since that's really important in all this, atleast to me.
I agree Berit :) I think all the points are out there now, so it's up to Sarah now. We put her through so much with our drama! XD last month it was members not pulling their weight and now this!
Are you reading my mind, Meaghan?! Lol! I was thinking the exact same thing! Every month it's something and I don't know how Abbie and Sarah put up with it. I have serious respect for them as they don't have to do any of this.
As to the whole debate, we've always tried to put people together who want to be together, or split people up who want to be apart. As long as teams are evenly matched, we don't see a problem with this, although admittedly it would be difficult if everybody requested to be with a certain other person. That being said, we never promised to do this, and if we needed to split people up then we would.

Yes, I'm a fast reader ☺
Yes, I'm a fast reader ☺

We will try to place people together if possible.
We will try to place people together if possible.
Playing devil's advocate here I see both povs. I think the whole point of these challenges is making reading more fun. Sarah and Abbie work so hard to give us amazing challenges each month. We should be grateful that they put so much effort into this group. I'm not saying no one isn't grateful about. I just really find it petty to argue about who is on what team. I really love this group and I know I haven't participated much in awhile, but I feel that we should all get along and be happy.
