Hahahaha
I will never understand the whole adjusted points system.
Points are adjusted based on how many books each team has read so far this year. If one team had 5 people who could each read 60 books each per month, and another team had 5 people who could only read 2 books each per month then it wouldn't be very fair.
I see. Thanks for explaining it.

Isn't that why they choose what difficulty team they want to be on? Does that mean that teams with fast readers are disadvantaged?

This was the same thing that happened in March. The whole adjusted points thing. It kinda discourages you from reading. Reward people that don't read much. I think this was discussed in March. This didn't happen in April because of the nature of the challenge. But I didn't think it was going to happen this month. I hope Sarah lets us know early on future challenges if this will happen. It kinda takes the fun out of it.

They should just have more categories, because serious could be anywhere from like 15-40 books a month. There should also be serious serious :p
Haha... I agree with you Maddison. I think we will just never be happy. At this point I just want to know when the challenges start if adjusted points will be done that way I will know wether I want to take part in the challenge or not. I hate complaining as Sarah and Abby are always looking for ways to make things fair.
True but it stops people from being discouraged. Or there could just be less people per team, say like 3-4 rather than the current amount of like 7-8, right?

Yeah that's fair. It does make a difference.

That's what I thought too. Maybe they're adjusting for people not participating after they sign up? Is it just the incomplete teams that are being adjusted or everyone?

I understand the whole being fair if one team has more members than the others. But take the team in 2nd and the team in 3rd. They both have the same amount of members, they are all participating but the places are reversed.
Yeah exactly, I agree with you Victoria. I suppose the mods are doing their best though. It must be so hard to keep up with all of these challenges!

That's also a fair point about the solo option, but I feel there's a lot less motivation going solo.
And I also suppose if I was in a team opposing those really fast readers I would feel demotivated, so the PA works quite well.

P.s. do we get a point for buddy read for this book bc I'm not sure it has more then 200 pages?
Yes you can re-read it ☺ The paperback version has 304 pages so it will count for a buddy read point.

I don't understand why teams would have different amounts of members at serious level. I also wonder how it's possible to adjust someone's score who hasn't been posting when their profile is private? I don't understand the adjusting system at all, though I understand it's done with the fairest of intentions.
As stated previously, we try to balance the teams as fairly as possible, but when people drop out or join late, it's not always possible to keep them balanced. We only use points adjusting when its necessary, and unfortunately in this challenge the teams are not very balanced.
