I attempted to read this, mainly on the strength of the reviews it had received from authors I respected. Not sure they were reading the same book. I got to the part where the boy cures a woman of her blindness and just closed it and moved on, (ok, I chucked it violently into the laundry hamper in disgust!) It truly reads like some white boy masturbatory fantasy - and I'm half afraid that I actually missed out on it getting better or reversing this notion. Has anyone else read it, and was I wrong to have stopped reading when I did?
