Some librarian knows who is this author https://www.goodreads.com/author/show... ?

None of his books have the latin-alphabet author name. I guess that he is Al-Jahiz but I need confirmation from some arab reader.

Looking at the librarian change log for the author, there has been a link on the Arab author profile to a Al-Jahiz profile.

Well, I add Al-Jahiz as the primary author for these editions (https://www.goodreads.com/work/editio...) but when I clicked in the Al-Jahiz (https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...) only shows one book.

Because they're all editions of the same book.

These two profiles must be merged, isn't? But what must remain? And how I link the two profiles (the arabic one and the english one)?

Free, you could care of these books? Edit the roles and put them in english? Or just tell here what role they are. It's better someone who knows arabic do this but if you don't want do it I will do it. Someone must care of the ALi's profile too. Put the primary author and translate the roles.

the problem is, for arabic author, there are many variations for author name's transliteration...

for example, for علي بن أبي طالب we'll find (in the cover) :

Ali ibn Abi Talib -> https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/8...
Ali ibn Abi Thalib -> https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...
Ali ibn Abu Talib -> https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...
Ali bin Abi Thalib -> https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...
Ali bn Abi Taalib -> https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...
or just Imam Ali -> https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/5...
or Hadrat Ali -> https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/8...
even Amir al-Mu'minin (I think it means "Leader of the Faithful") -> https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/9...

should we merge all into one name, or pick one name as primary author and add name in the cover as secondary author ?
for me, I'll choose merged them all, leave only 2 name (roman & arabic) :)
but I think, according manual we should put them as secondary author...
I think we need another opinion... :)

another simple example is this :
ﻤﺤﺪ -> could be transliterate into Muhammad, Muhamad, Mohamed, Mohammed, Mahomed, Mahomet...

If there are covers with all of them, then you will have to do this. Except for the ones which are difference because of a title (Imam, Hadrat).
