Woohoo! Someone I can talk Yellowrock about with! :) Hello, pleased to meet you!I actually don't think Beast will ever have kids in the sense of kittens - if there will ever be any sort of offspring, it will be because Jane is going to have a baby. But I don't think that's gonna happen. About shapeshifting during pregnancy - that's how I understood it; Jane can't shift this or that way in case of pregnancy.
I would die happy if Ricky Boo never showed up again. :) Never liked him much at all...
This Leo/Jane thing is seriously dividing the fandom, isn't it? Either you love the idea, or you totally hate it! :D I personally LOVE Leo, and I can totally see him and Jane ending up (it's something to do with their power play and sense of equal grounds that gets me). Though, I have to be realistic - in the last book, Hunter took a HUGE step away from that by distancing him from Jane and refocussing on his flattery love life (by pushing him back into the general direction of a certain blond vampire "colleague" of his again, which, yeah that's cool, why not?). I think Hunter saw/realised the potential chemistry between Leo and Jane and how many readers actually like this pairing very much, but she herself, as the writer, doesn't want to follow that path. Up until the 9th book (I think), I saw huge potential there myself (still do, to be honest, despite her machinations) - I'm a total sucker for Leo/Jane. But in the tenth instalment, I realised Hunter fabricated some distance between them. She doesn't want that pairing and she makes sure that the readers read that between the lines. :) So you can rest assured, I think. That pairing won't happen, I'm pretty certain (and sad). Girls can dream on, though. :D
The Younger brothers rock! I hope they will play a huge role in this upcoming book as well. Though, by now you've probably guessed it, my favourite character is Leo so the best for me would be a Jane/Leo adventure (not necessarily in the romantic kind) that's dominating this book. By the summary, it is focussing more on the vampire aspects of the Yellowrock world, which I love :)
What do you think the book will focus on, characterwise?
And who else cannot wait for the Europeans to FINALLY make their appearance??? I wonder how long Hunter will tease us with that plotline?? :)
I remember that Faith wrote somewhere that Jane won't have kids during the JY series timeline, but maybe I imagined it. I've always wondered if she had kittens during the many decades spent in Beast form, after she took her soul. And were those kits normal kits?I liked Rick, never loved him, though. And since he left Jane to work for PsyLed he sounded even more false and like a bootlicker when he wanted intel from her.
My guess is we'll deal with the Europeans in the last two books of the series (that should be the 13th and the 14th)...it'll be EPIC!
I think that, while in Dark Heir Jane and Leo were more friendly, flirty and relaxed towards each other, in SR we don't exactly see that. However, they still made some important progress: in a moment when Leo was extremely nervous and worried she tried to calm him down by making him smell the scent of her arousal...something she would've never ever done months before. Then, she let him drink her own blood. Okay, she was forced to if she wanted to survive, but still, it's a huge progress. And at the end of the book, Leo was definitely dying to see her and talk to her.
I don't know if something between them will ever happen, but if Hunter has romantic plans for them in mind, I think she's doing a great job. Every time Jane and Leo get closer, Hunter puts some distance between the two right after. That and the fact that they're still not going anywhere after 10 books could just mean that Hunter wants their relationship to be the less predictable, conventional and clichéd as possible. And of course, Leo can't forget 500 years of rakish behavior just because he met Jane. So we'll be reminded of his past and present lovers for a little while yet (if ever he and Jane will become something).
Wonderfully put!!! That actually makes a lot of sense. I hadnt seen the closeness followed by distance as a pattern yet but now I can see that. Gosh, that smell arousal scene, totally forgot about that. Such a cool scene!
I would love for that pairing to happen, but I dont really get my hopes up. If Hunter plans for it, then it will be all the more positively surprising for me then I guess. lool

Can shapeshifters carry young to term? That depends on who's world you are in. In N. Singh's world they can, the embryos sift when the mothers do. In some other authors' work, they cannot. I do not feel that Faith Hunter has addressed the issue. But Jane's father had a mother, but we do not know whether she was also a skinwalker.
I'm pretty sure it's mentioned she couldn't shift if pregnant but I'm not sure. Having "kits" has been mentioned since book 1 so I wouldn't be surprised since children have been given so much importance that it will eventually happen, perhaps as a book series endingBruiser is my main - love him - but I also love Leo. I know she has made Jane monogomous but with Beast always saying cats like multiple mates, and since Leo and George have loved each other for years, I keep hoping for the possibility. Doubtful but that would be the best I think,

Is it true, that for Jane or Beast to have kits they won't be able to change shape during the pregnancy?
that sucks... because than it would get in the way of the battles... dann that means that she will never have kits...

I really want to see Rick... Jane needs to kick his ass... but at the same time I want to know what's happening with him... wasn't that panther that he leaves Jane for in heat??
I don't want Jane to get romantically involved with Leo...
I want more of the Youngers, Angie Baby and Little Evan...
and Beast... i love Beast!!!!
