The mystery/suspense story was excellent. I had no idea whodunit and had a hard time putting it down. Tully & Gwen took care of the romance portion of the story, even though it wasn't front and center. The biggest improvement I saw was with Maggie herself. We didn't have her constant ruminations about her life or about someone wanting to kill her. She actually got some profiling done in this story too. I liked this Maggie much better. I'm definitely sticking with this series.
Yes it was Maggie who improved. She did her job and the author stopped rehashing stuff we already know. I think the actual story line in all of the books has been okay - it was all the waffle about Maggie's feelings which irritated me.And yes I am sticking with the series although I am quite happy to wait a month between each one!
I agree with everything you both said. This was a much improved Maggie and as I stated earlier, getting out of that awful marriage seemed to have lightened this character. This was the first book where I thought everything worked (excepting that Lone Ranger moment at the end).
Lol! Lone Ranger moment! Love it.If you read Patricia Cornwell you are already very familiar with the phenomenon.
