Consider recent and on-going world events. Did these events shape your how you read the book? Did the book shape your view on refugees, migrants, and illegal residents?

I still haven't started the book yet (any day now) but I am sure current world events will have some impact on what I take away from this story. It is the main reason I want to read it.

I've just started to read the book but within a few pages you realize the seriousness of the storyline. I have not read any reviews; I don't like them to influence my own thoughts or feelings of the book.
Tolerance, we certainly need more of it in this world.
