Remin | 3 comments I looking for a book I read I was 8-10. The book had a vampire in it. He might have been the main character's neighbor. It's possible some of the book was set in a library or I might have just read it while I was at the library. I think there was a vampire named Rahul in it but I could be wrong. The age range for the book would have been 8-13 years.

Thanks in advance for your help. Sorry for the lack of detail.

About what year did you read it? Were there illustrations? Remember the cover?

El | 502 comments There was a children's vampire series by Angela Sommer-Bodenburg called The Little Vampire. The vampire's name in the story is Rudolph (not Rahul, but they both start with the letter 'R'!).

Also note that when I read the first book, it was this edition and it was called My Friend the Vampire.

That was the first thing that came to mind. I don't remember specifically if there was a library scene, but I didn't read the whole series either, so it could easily have been in one of the other books.

I'd say it was 1983 +-2 years. I don't believe there were illustrations. If there were, there wouldn't have been many and they would have been black and white similar to any chapter book for that age range. I don't remember the cover at all. I think the book itself was hardcover.

I do seem to remember the main character living in a building with an elevator.

I'll look at this. The description doesn't invoke any memories but I'm sure a passage from the book would. I seem to remember darker cover art than that link portrays.
