Penny (penne) | 748 comments I just came across this infographic about books that predicted the future on reddit. Pretty awesome I think.

Don Dunham Thank you Penny, I enjoyed that. And would add William Gibson's "pattern recognition " = Data mining and company's like Axiom.

Jim | 336 comments I've found that the future tends to creep up on you faster than you can write about it if you're not careful

Micah Sisk (micahrsisk) | 1436 comments Just found this thread...

They list Apple as the earbud inventor. I have to disagree with that. In-ear monophonic headphones were common as far back as 1972 (I remember listening to Jethro Tull's Living in the Past album on a little monophonic cassette tape player while we drove to Philadelphia...yep, I'm that old).

I always think of Philip K. Dick's 1955 short story "Autofac" in relation to this topic. That's the earliest mention of nanotechnology that I know of. Or at least auto-assembling nanotech...Then I have to slap myself again when I realize that auto-assembling nanotech as he described it hasn't become real yet (thankfully!)!!!

What a maroon.
