Story from 70s I think; group of humans travel to alien planet to observe a sun going nova (could be some other celestial event); natives on this planet have wings and secrete unique sweat or tears when emotionally stressed. Tears/sweat have some kind of powerful effect that makes its possession very desire able. Some of visitors attemp to get secretions and there are other events.
