Ember Bird | 3 comments I'm trying to find out the title of a book my boyfriend read in high school that he really wants to read again. The book is about hunters and prisoners. He read it between 1991 and 1994. The only details he can remember about the book is that it has a chef (I think in the prison) who makes poisonous chili and he covers it with a lot of cheese and then eats some himself so others won't get suspicious. Also, the hunters encounter a rabid deer that charges at one of them. The cover has a picture of the rabid deer with blood on his antlers. If anyone can lead me in the right direction of title or author I'd appreciate it. He thought it was called Opening Day but so far I haven't found it. Originally I thought he told me it had the words "lodge" or "bay" in the title.

How does the hunters storyline connect with the prison chef?

Was this a mystery, horror, etc?
Time period location the story takes place?
Part of a series?
What country was he in when he read the book?

Ember Bird | 3 comments He thinks the prisoner escapes and the hunter sees him. He really can't remember but he thinks that's how they meet. It took place in current times (90's when he read it) and was not part of a series. He read it in the USA (Georgia) in high school. He said the book was suspenseful.

Ayshe | 4721 comments There's Opening day by Dan Bertalan which looks promising. Amazon only has the back cover, but here's one on ebay: http://www.ebay.fr/itm/Opening-Day-De... I found one and uploaded it.

Ayshe | 4721 comments Great! It might be that Nature Comes Killing: When Prey Become Predators is re-issue of the same, judging from the blurb and the cover.
