Me too, and I definitely don't think of that as shopping! I feel like that is socializing. I love reading, lists, articles, the internet . . .all things you can't do while actually physically shopping . . .so yes for Goodreads!!

Kate | 91 comments I don't know if anyone mentioned this before, there are a LOT of comments on this thread, but Amazon used to have a free trial (6 month?) membership in prime for students, in effect anyone who signs up with a .edu email extension. If you have access to an .edu address give it a try and see if you think you get a $50 value in the 6 months

I LOVE to shop! And, I do Stitch Fix. My problem with grocery shopping is that I just never feel like I have time for it, but when I do and I am not in a rush, then I totally do not mind it.

Susie OMG. Stitch Fix sounds fabulous! I wonder if they ship to Australia...

Safe browsing. Put that in any context you wish.

They only ship in the US, but there are other clothing subscription services out there. Perhaps you can find one that ships to Australia.

Stitch Fix is so much fun!

Leah K (uberbutter) | 90 comments I use Amazon Prime a lot. We use it for not just books (and the lending library through there) but a lot of baby stuff (diapers and such) and cat food. We also use the video streaming service which alone is on par as the cost as a year of Netflix so worth it to me.

Agreed! I don't much like shopping, either. I do get most of my groceries delivered, organic/local, etc. via SPUD (available in Calgary, Vancouver and some places in California, I believe). But then, I also don't have a car, so delivery is very convenient!

Karin | 9247 comments Wow, this subject got me going so hard I just deleted a doggone essay! I've spared you the details. Suffice to say that shopping is a PITA.

Jennifer Pope (jenjunum) | 902 comments Amazon Pantry is a little funky. You have to fill up a whole giant box and then they send it. So each items tells you what percentage of the box it fills up. Like 12 pack of paper towels -- 15%. The boxes are really big. A bottle of shampoo is like 2%. I got a bunch of promotional credits with my holiday shopping this year but it was strange and I ended up not using it. The prices didn't seem better, just more convenient if you don't want to go to the store I guess.

But I love Amazon, have Prime and use it a lot. For other Prime members, I really liked both Mozart in the Jungle and Love, both Amazon-made TV shows.

Red52 This has been a very enlightening and interesting conversation. It has sparked my interest to try using Amazon for a few things and see how I like it. Unlike some of you I love shopping. Clothes, shoes, groceries. My grocery store has one of the best meat counters for this area which is why I started shopping there in the first place. Now I buy everything there. It's a fun time for me. All the new products and specialty items. I can spend hours there.

I started my trial period earlier this week and expect my first package today. I'm getting 60 pounds of organic acidifier/fertilizer. It was only offered to Prime members (with 3-4 day delivery) and not available in the 30 lb bags locally. I ordered a second item and opted out of the second day delivery so have my first $1 credit towards an ebook. So far not bad. Amazon tells me I can get 3 free audio books as a Prime member
if I start a trial subscription to Audible so am trying to figure out which 3 books I want to listen to that I can't get at the library.

You should ask for suggestions here as many people read audio.

We also find obscure grocery items and I buy seeds from Amazon as well.

We bought our tv from them and got a great deal.

Olivermagnus (lynda11282) | 4816 comments I think the ebook credits are not valid on the Big Five Publishers books, only those sold by Amazon Digital (currently 176,179 available). They also expire after awhile but that won't be a problem with the free trial. Happy shopping!

I bought my TV from Amazon, also got a great deal. It was delivered via UPS and after I got it all set up and turned it on there was obviously something wrong, it looked like an internal crack. Called Amazon discussed everything with customer service and they immediately sent out a new one and had the broken one picked up at the same time. No questions asked. Great customer service always.

Yes, we have found them to have great customer service. My hubby bought some jeans which didn't fit and when he called customer service to return them, they told him not to bother that they would just credit our account and they did.

Bummer. Are those the same books that are part of the Kindle Unlimited program? I' m not interested in most of those. They are giving me 3 months to spend the first dollar.

I have always been very pleased with the customer service Amazon provides. I buy hubby's work pants from Amazon also. I got tired of spending several hours driving all around town and unable to find them in his size. We've also bought a TV from Amazon.

Olivermagnus (lynda11282) | 4816 comments Amazon Digital Services offers some great books including Wool Omnibus and many others. I would suggest typing Amazon Digital Services in the store search bar where you can browse almost 200,000 books. Major publishers don't allow Amazon to discount their ebooks.

I didn't have much luck with the search but was amused by the high to low - that started at over 6 grand. So much for my dollar off. I thought I'd seen the phrase Amazon Digital Services before so looked at my book wish list and found 4 titles out of the 24 books on the list. Books on my wish list are digital titles I can't get from the library so that's perfect.

Red52 I just ordered my DH some new jeans. Thanks so much for taking about clothes buying from Amazon. He's a skinny guy and the stores never have his size.
