Up to Chapter 33. (view spoiler)[ I'm loving the plot with Piper and the demon, and all the main characters feeling the effects of darkness spreading through the ley line. It's a reminder of how well the author intertwined all the storylines in the series - one cause affects all of them. So cool!

Also, serious hints at Ronan's lurve for Adam. But there's not much hinting on whether Adam reciprocates. In fact, Adams reaction when finding out Ronan dreamt up Cabeswater, meaning he might be tied to Ronan, seemed really negative. So maybe he doesn't feel the same way. (hide spoiler)]

About the auction(view spoiler)[ How would selling a demon even work? First off, I doubt you could imprison it or take it far away from Henrietta and Cabeswater. The demon would definitely resist. And secondly, it only serves itself and sometimes Piper so it's no use to anyone else. So whoever buys it gets a powerful but essentially useless magical beast that can't be moved and doesn't even look pretty. What the hell for? And I'll bet it's crazy expensive AND dangerous too! Chapter 49, about Gansey: (view spoiler)[ I think when the birds all say, "make way for the Raven King!", they're referring to Gansey and not Glendower. Maybe they were referring to him all along, even at the cave in Cabeswater. Gansey is after all the king of the raven boys. (hide spoiler)]

Chapters 1-6 (view spoiler)[The scene with all of the women from 300 Fox Way at the beginning was very ominous. It just makes me ask more questions about what the hell is going on in this series. It seems like every time we get an answer to something, we have even more questions. I love it, but it wracks my brain. =P

I still love Ronan. So angsty and rough on the outside, but so selfless underneath. With Adam, and now trying to find this armor for Gansey in his dreams. I am very curious about the girl from his dreams though. I wonder what role she has to play in everything. (hide spoiler)]

Chapters 7-12 (view spoiler)[Gansey feels guilty that he can't comfort Blue because he is afraid to tell Adam that he loves Blue. And Blue wants to tell Gansey about his death to come. Adam can see that Blue and Gansey care about each other. I wonder if Blue will just tell Adam the truth. I am such a Gansey/Blue shipper. I just want them to end up together and happy. And alive.

The black oozing tree is creepy. I wonder if it has something to do with Noah or something to do with the dark thing that awakened at the end of the last book. Or if Noah is connected to it somehow? (hide spoiler)]

Chapters 13-19 (view spoiler)[So Adam talks to Blue and asks her why she and Gansey didn't tell him about their "relationship". They both get defensive and Adam leaves. I feel kind of bad for him. Gansey is his best friend and he can't tell him that he is in love with his ex. It hurts him. And I can see Blue's stance as well since she and Gansey don't really have a relationship. They definitely care about each other, but the only acting upon it that they have done is minimal.

I really want to know where Henry Cheng plays into things. I don't really like him. He is annoying. And what is with the toga party? It doesn't seem like much of a party so far.

I really like it when Adam and Ronan spend time together. -sigh-

I was pretty shocked when Maura and Mr. Gray found Noah at the farmhouse where the Greenmantles were staying. Poor Noah. I was glad that 300 Fox Way welcomed him into their home, but I feel so bad for Noah. I wonder why his soul is so decayed? (hide spoiler)]

Chapters 20-25 (view spoiler)[Oh My Glob!! Ronan dreamed Cabeswater? But it existed before that? This actually makes complete sense now that I think about it. Though there are still so many things unanswered right now. Gah! I wonder why Cabeswater is drawing from Ronan's nightmares all of a sudden. And what in the world did Adam do to save Ronan and Orphan Girl when they fell into the acid?

The scene when Blue and Gansey went back to 300 Fox Way and found Noah there possessed by something else was super creepy.

Colin Greenmantle seems so pathetic now. I really hope that in the end, Piper gets her comeuppance. She is dreadful. (hide spoiler)]

Chapters 26-31 (view spoiler)[Piper turned into bugs and killed her husband? So many creepy, weird things are happening! And the fact that the thing that she and Neeve discovered in the cave is a huge wasp-like creature that they call a demon. I can't even imagine a human-sized wasp creature. I would literally die of shock. Or a heart attack since bugs and I don't really get along. I do wonder if there is any significance to it being a wasp since Gansey is allergic to wasps and he is supposed to die within the year.

Poor Blue. I am glad that she won't lose her eye though. And I'm glad that Gansey finally told his friends about himself and Blue's relationship. Blue and Gansey together gives me all the feels.

Wow, so I guess we know Henry Cheng's deal. And his story is so sad. I feel sorry for him. He is supposed to spy on Gansey for his mother, but he seems to want to be friends with him instead. Their entire encounter was very odd though. I can't tell what his true intentions are.

Oh my gosh, I didn't know that I could feel sympathy for Declan. He was actually dealing with his father's old heat trying to keep his brothers safe. (hide spoiler)]

Chapters 32-36 (view spoiler)[I would be lying if I didnt say that I got a kick out of the scene with Blue and Henry by the bus line. Henry definitely made me giggle. Maybe he's all right after all. =P

These poor, fragile characters that make my heart ache! Adam being in the Lynch house and seeing the family's happiness surrounding him while he remembers his terrible parents and childhood was heart wrenching. I need Adam to be happy. I NEED it! And that kiss! It is everything that I hoped it would be between Adam and Ronan. No words. Just kisses. And right at such a tender moment for Adam. My heart is bursting right now. I am NOT okay!

I knew that I didn't like Neeve for a good reason. Though it's weird that she kind of seems to have some sort of moral center when Piper tells her that she is going to sell the demon. She got to warn 300 Fox Way, but not before Piper had the demon end her. Despite her ant-sized redemption, I wasn't sad to see her go.

Ronan tells Blue and Gansey about dreaming Cabeswater and Matthew. And Adam tells Gansey about he and Ronan kissing. Adam had wanted to know how Gansey knew that he loved Blue. I was seriously holding my breath through the entire scene. (hide spoiler)]

Chapters 37-45 (view spoiler)[I am glad that Henry is now friends with Blue and Gansey. And I love Mr. Gray. I despised him at the beginning of the series. Such incredible character growth! I love it when Mr. Gray spends time with Blue. It's darling.

I love how Ronan and Adam can speak to each other without words. And more kisses! OMG, the world is perfect now! =P

Gwenllian chasing Blue's father up a tree was interesting. Though now he is inside the tree, and it sounds like Gwenllian's mother was too. And apparently, so is Glendower. I am still trying to process all this.

So the demon killed Cabeswater, and with it Ronan's mother. I don't even know if Cabeswater is something that Ronan could dream over again and bring back since it was a real thing that Ronan gave life to again. It's all so strange. (hide spoiler)]

Chapters 46-53 (view spoiler)[This is the strangest book series that I have ever read. Stiefvater is a talented storyteller. I don't know how I can grasp the main idea of the story and yet be so bloody confused and curious at the same time. Blue's conversation with her father really baffled me. So her father is a tree creature? And so is Glendower and Gwenllian? Only certain trees can house these people and since the trees were depleting in Wales they came to America. And blood spilled on the corpse road can create a demon? And does this mean that Blue isn't human? It's so much to take in, but it's so confusing at the same time that I don't know how to process it.

So Blue is more than human? Or perhaps part of human and part tree creature thingy?

Did Gansey just see a unicorn? A for real unicorn?

The fact that the birds leading him to Glendower lead him to the place where he died from the bug stings is a little shocking. Maybe? Honestly, wouldn't Gansey have thought to look there before now since that is the place where he was given his life back from Glendower in the first place? (hide spoiler)]

Finished! (view spoiler)[OMG! I'm not okay right now. But maybe I am? I am so glad that my book babies are all okay in the end. I love how everything coalesced at the end of the book. Everything came together so beautifully. Stiefvater is a master at foreshadowing. I am pretty blown away by this series. The ending was just perfect, though I would have liked to know how everyone else at 300 Fox Way ended up as well as the others. I am excited for the new Ronan series that is going to be coming out. I have to be honest though, I think that I would have preferred a series about Gansey, Blue, and Henry. I think that deep down they were my favorites. Gah. I love them all though. =P (hide spoiler)]

First quarter - (view spoiler)[I like how this book doesn't initially feel like a final book. Usually, the last in the series will be entirely made up of action but this one maintains the same pace as the rest of the series. I really liked that as it doesn't feel like we are saying goodbye to the characters just yet. (hide spoiler)]

Second quarter - (view spoiler)[Adam's rogue eye travelling in the socket makes me own eyes water! I felt so sorry for him when he thought the cause was a delayed one from the abuse he received at the fists of his father.

To completely oppose that, Blue making friends with the Aglionby boys at the toga party was so wholesome!

And then poor Noah negated that again. The entire residents of 300 Fox Way were impacted by him. (hide spoiler)]

Third quarter - (view spoiler)[The magical artefact business that was revealed came as a big shock but I can fully imagine the allure. I had completely forgotten about that reveal, from my previous read of the series, despite it playing a major part in this book. It also serves to introduce Henry's character as something more than the inconsequential side-character he had previously been.

I really like how so many of these chapters begin with, 'Depending on where you began the story, it was about...' It allows the readers to experience mini-arcs, backstories, and perspectives from other side-characters outside of but still related to Blue and the raven boys.

When Ronan described Adam's kiss as like "every mile per hour Ronan had ever gone over the speed limit" my heart skipped a beat! (hide spoiler)]

Fourth quarter - (view spoiler)[I could remember so much about the previous books in the series but much of this one felt new to me. Discovering the bones of Glendower came as a shock and Gansey's subsequent sadness hurt to read about. I knew this would not be the anti-climatic end to the series, though.

I knew of Gansey's death and yet it still had me shedding a tear. I cried more for Cabeswater, though. And the ending was entirely bittersweet, knowing not all would continue on into their lives together. It did feel more authentic for that, though. (hide spoiler)]

I keep waiting for these books to start tying things up and making some sense but they just keep getting weirder and more disjointed. I had hoped reading Blue Lily and going straight into this one would also help but so far, it has not. I will be really glad when this series is done. I mean, yes, of course (view spoiler)[ I want to find out about Glendower and what will happen to Gansey and Blue, et cetera. I'm just tired of plodding through pages waiting for something to happen that makes any sense or moves the story along even a little. For example, I thought bringing the Orphan Girl out was cool, if seriously creepy, but I have no idea why that's just happening now or what purpose it serves. Piper has now showed up again with random weird triplets that can't tell each other apart and appear to be her father, but none of that really makes a lot of sense either (although it does seem very convenient). (hide spoiler)] Sigh. That's all I'm going to say right now.

To Chapter 30

Had to take a break for a bit to read my book group books, but I'm on a mission to get this one done. And I must say, for all I've been dragging through these books and I don't feel like they're quick reads, I am impressed with Stiefvater's character development, and truthfully, her story ideas themselves are pretty good -- they just take too long. But I did NOT expect (view spoiler)[ that Ronan had dreamed Cabeswater. Should have. Makes sense but that did not even occur to me ever. Part of me almost feels like it's cheating, like Ronan did it just because he wanted Gansey's big dream to happen, for him to find Glendower, but it was a great twist. The story is getting more macabre (I didn't actually think that was possible without it being a full-on horror, but it is) and it's getting weirder by the page. I will admit to having kind of a morbid fascination with it at this point. I do actually want to know how this is going to fit together, and even though most of Stiefvater's books have started too slow for me in general, several of them I've liked reasonably well by the end. So I'm hoping that's the case here as well. (hide spoiler)]

I must admit, Stiefvater's doing a great job throwing twists in here I didn't see coming. (view spoiler)[ Did not expect Blue's dad to be a tree, I actually really LIKE Henry and I am NOT okay with Gansey dying over this. :/ Actually, I'm a little confused about where the demon came from, so I feel like this is kind of a trap in the story... the favor is supposed to be for Gansey's life and I'm slightly annoyed that she appears to be making that impossible.

That did and didn't end the way I thought. I was bowled over when (view spoiler)[ Glendower was dead. I thought he'd show up alive somewhere and end up bringing Gansey to life. But I anticipated Gansey being resurrected one way or another. Truthfully, it was almost anticlimactic, although I'm not sorry it happened.
An interesting story. Not probably ever going to be a favorite because I feel like it's been quite the slog, but it does have some good qualities, and the character development is strong. Glad I made it to the end (hide spoiler)]

That's an interesting thought. I don't think I ever believed (view spoiler)[ he wouldn't die but I figured there was just no way she'd let him stay dead, so his death really didn't have a ton of impact like it might have otherwise. (hide spoiler)]

I've just finished reading this series for the first time - shame I didn't find you in time to buddy read! I have one burning theory that I'm dying to share and see if people think i'm completely wrong or not, or see if it's so obvious it should be a given!
Here goes (spoilers for the whole series) When Noah looped back round and said that to Gansey, what if the person he was talking about dying on the ley line wasn't him but was future Gansey?! So, Noah was always meant to die to set up the events in the story by looping back? That's my theory!
