C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments Reading Truthwitch right now. Wasn't really into it at first, but it has improved.

Also reading The Moon and More, which I'm enjoying quite a lot.

message 155: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (jackiegirl02) | 4614 comments Glad the book has improved. Glad you're enjoying that other one.:)I'll have to get to it at some point.

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments Finished Truthwitch today. It was pretty fun but I didn't love it. I did enjoy that the characters grew throughout the story, but none of them were fantastic to me. And the "epic" female friendship was lacking for me.

Courtney, that's pretty much exactly how I felt about Truthwitch.

I was really hoping to LOVE it. But alas, it was just a fun bit of forgettable YA fantasy.

Jamie (The Kansan Reader) (thekansanreader) Last night I started Redeeming Rhys by Mary E. Palmerin . Truth be told I judge a book by the cover. I wanted to know what was between this cover. Now I am kicking myself for not reading the blurb.

message 160: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments I'm guessing you aren't enjoying it?

message 161: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (jackiegirl02) | 4614 comments Oh, sorry it's not going how you wanted.

Jamie (The Kansan Reader) (thekansanreader) It's not that I'm not enjoying it. More as it's a really messed up book. The blurb at the bottom says to read the Author's disclosure carefully. I knew that it was going to be in the Dark genre from the cover, but to date it is the darkest book I've ever read.

But props to the author. She has amazing writing.

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments Ah, I see.

Jamie (The Kansan Reader) (thekansanreader) C P wrote: "Ah, I see."

Yeah... I may or may not have nightmares from this.

message 165: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments Yikes. That must be really dark. Hope you don't have any nightmares though!

message 166: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (jackiegirl02) | 4614 comments Wow, that sounds really dark.

Jamie (The Kansan Reader) (thekansanreader) Jackie wrote: "Wow, that sounds really dark."

It's pretty graphic.

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments Finished rereading Life Expectancy. It's such a wonderful book.

Jamie (The Kansan Reader) (thekansanreader) I DNF Redeeming Rhys by Mary E. Palmerin . It got way to dark for me.

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments Sorry to hear that. But I think that's a good thing, we all have limits and knowing when they've been met is always best.

I'm reading Crooked Kingdom now. :D Fairly good so far.

That's great. I started The Queen of All That Dies by Laura Thalassa. I loved her series Unearthly so I decided to give another of her series a try.

message 172: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (jackiegirl02) | 4614 comments Glad you're enjoying your next book better than the dark one. Good on you for recognizing your limits.

message 175: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments Thanks, Jackie. :) I'm about halfway now. Some things I like a lot, others not as much. It's a crazy read though.

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments I've started rereading Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. Hoping to finish it and Crooked Kingdom tomorrow. I'm really enjoying this reread. I'll probably continue and reread the whole series over the next few months.

message 177: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments I finished Crooked Kingdom yesterday. I did really enjoy it, but not as much as Six of Crows. There was a certain event near the end that I found completely unnecessary and disappointing. I guess it could be argued that it made things more realistic, but I found it the main down side to the novel.

I also finished reading Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. It was really nice to revisit this book. Hopefully I will be rereading the rest of the series over the next few months. And you know, I don't remember liking Ron, but he actually wasn't bad in this.

message 178: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (jackiegirl02) | 4614 comments Sorry it wasn't as good as you were expecting.:/
Also, I want to reread the series as well.:)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments It was still really good, Jackie. I rated it 4 stars. :) And you should! I've been meaning to read them again for years.

You're working on a lot, Bookbuyer! I hope you enjoy them! Glad to hear you're learning!

message 181: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments You're reading both? Or you're finishing off the first and starting the second? Glad ro hear you like it! I know a lot of people enjoy that series.

message 182: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments Haha, that's always the problem! I am becoming quite picky about what I read for that reason.

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments I've started the tenth Wheel of Time book. It's off to a pretty interesting start, but I've heard lots of bad things, so I'm not sure how long that will last.

message 185: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (jackiegirl02) | 4614 comments Oh, I hope it's not too bad. Hope it goes okay for you and you enjoy it, even if it doesn't turn out to be your favorite.

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments Thanks, Jackie. I hope so too.

message 187: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments I also started Uncle Petros and Goldbach's Conjecture, which is a novel about a man who obsessed over solving Goldbach's Conjecture. So far it's really interesting. It was translated from Greek.

message 193: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments I just finished Vortex, the sequel to Insignia, and it was really good. I'm really excited for the third one, which I will probably start tomorrow.

message 194: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments I just finished reading Catalyst (Insignia, #3) by S.J. Kincaid and cannot recommend it enough. If you like YA sci-fi at all, read this series! This is one of the best series conclusions I believe I have ever read. S J Kincaid is a new favorite, I'm pretty sure.

message 195: by Courtney (new)

Courtney Judy (courtneyjudy) hi ya'll -- I'm currently reading The Women's Room by Marilyn French

I'm finding it rather topical as well with all that is going on (living this close to DC makes everything and anything to do with politics at the forefront of most everything on the news)

Anyone else read it?

message 196: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments No, I haven't read that. Or even heard of it.

message 197: by Skylar (new)

Skylar (skuil) | 5 comments I'm currently reading Beautiful Redemption by Kami Garcia & Margaret Stohl, it's absolutely fantastic so far, but sadly it's the last book to the series and then I have to obsess over a new series.

Courtney Judy (courtneyjudy) C P wrote: "No, I haven't read that. Or even heard of it."

It's from the late 70's. An interesting read to say the least.

message 199: by Skylar (new)

Skylar (skuil) | 5 comments I'm a fan so far, but the ending is the most important part in my opinion, so we'll see!

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments Skylar, I love that series! Glad you're enjoying them. I don't know that many people who do.
