TY. I'm going to power through it. But it's hard to read much when you aren't enjoying it. :/

Jackie (jackiegirl02) | 4614 comments Yeah, I know how you feel. I'm kind of like that with Heir of Fire.

Hopefully we both get through our books/slumps and really enjoy our next book! :D

Kylara Jensen | 437 comments I didn't like What's Left of Me Very much. Interesting concept, not executed very well. It was ok. I'm currently reading The Bassoon King My Life in Art, Faith, and Idiocy by Rainn Wilson

Agreed. I'm going to start another book today to see if reading something else helps.

Kylara Jensen | 437 comments Heir of Fire took me sooo long to get through. I don't know why? Maybe all the pov switches? I liked book 4 a lot better.

Honestly, I think that's the main problem I'm having with it right now. I like books that have multiple points of view, and so far it's worked in the series, but this one just has too many, which makes it hard to keep track of things.

Anna 'Bookbuyer' (bookbuyer) | 9905 comments I finally broke my slump!!! I'm 110 pages into Burning Glass (Burning Glass, #1) by Kathryn Purdie which is closest I've been to finishing a book in the past several days. ^-^

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments Great! I hope you're able to get through more, since I know you were planning quite a lot for this month.

Jackie (jackiegirl02) | 4614 comments I'm just over a fourth done with Heir of Fire, but it's taken so long!

message 62: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (jackiegirl02) | 4614 comments Hoping to finish Heir of Fire late tonight or early tomorrow as I'm 63% through.

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments I'm listening to Stay the Distance by Mara Dabrishus right now and loving it. It was one of my favorite reads last year and I'm so excited to be back in it. Audio isn't usually my thing, but this is so good.

message 66: by Kylara (new)

Kylara Jensen | 437 comments I just finished Fortune's Pawn (Paradox, #1) by Rachel Bach . I was enjoying reading it, but then I got to the end and I was like NEED NEXT BOOK NOW!!!! I love it when that happens.

message 67: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments Me too! Glad you enjoyed it.

message 68: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (jackiegirl02) | 4614 comments Finished Heir of Fire last night! Not sure whether I'm rating it a 3.5 or 4.

message 69: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments So I guess that means you liked it pretty well. Glad you were able to get more into it as you read.

message 70: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (jackiegirl02) | 4614 comments Meh, it was fine, but the action at the end saved it. Still, I thought it was very slow-paced and it took a while to get used to the various POV changes.

Kylara Jensen | 437 comments The 4th book is way better

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments Just finished listening to Stay the Distance. Love it even more now. Soooo good!

That's great!

I'm kind of stuck in a state of not being able to finish books. I can force myself to finish short ones but the long ones just seem to drag. :/

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments Ah, I hate that! Hopefully you'll find something really good to get through soon!

I've been trying for the past week. I was hopeful with Burning Glass but I'm not 60% in and I'm not liking it. It's dragging. :/

message 76: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments :( That's the worst.

Anna 'Bookbuyer' (bookbuyer) | 9905 comments Courtney wrote: ":( That's the worst."

I'm forcing myself through my books but I'm very disappointed in myself. I got all these great new books and I was looking forward to reading them and I'm in a slump. I feel like I'm letting my team from another group down as well. :(

message 78: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (jackiegirl02) | 4614 comments Glad you could enjoy the book in the audio form as much as the print/eBook form. What was different about the audio this time? Was it the narrator, the fact you already liked the series, or something else?

message 79: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (jackiegirl02) | 4614 comments Bookbuyer: I am pretty sure they'll understand; we all have slumps. I hate when long books drag as well, but sometimes as soon as you get through it, you can just read a crapton more. It took me forever to read Heir of Fire, but now I think I can read more since I got through it. I hope it ends soon though.

Me too. I keep starting books and they seem fantastic but it's missing a spark I need to really get into it and devour the book.

message 81: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments Jackie, I think it was a combination of things. Already loved the book, but the narrator was excellent. She brought the characters to life so well. I particularly like how she read Beck, the guy in the book. :D

message 82: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (jackiegirl02) | 4614 comments Do you remember her name? Have you tried looking for other books she's narrated? I always say that the narrator can make or break a book.

message 83: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments Her name is Sarah Mollo-Christensen. I'll have to see if I can find others. I know Mara wants to try and get her for the sequel when it's released!

Also, I need to see who the Scottish woman was who narrated half of code name verity. I absolutely loved her.

message 84: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (jackiegirl02) | 4614 comments Hmm, I've never heard of her. If you look up what else she reads, let me know.:)
Does it not say the cast of narrators at the beginning or end of Code Name Verity?

message 85: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments It did, but I don't own it. I had it from the library. It won't be hard to find, I just have to remember to look. haha

message 86: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (jackiegirl02) | 4614 comments It should say it online as well.:)

message 87: by Kylara (new)

Kylara Jensen | 437 comments I had a lazy reading day today and I just read Wink Poppy Midnight. It was so weird and awesome ; I couldn't put it down. The ending was all what the bleep did I just read. but in a good way lol.

message 88: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (jackiegirl02) | 4614 comments Glad you liked it.:)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments I'm about 260 pages into The Fires of Heaven and I'm enjoying it pretty well so far.

message 90: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (jackiegirl02) | 4614 comments Nice, glad you're liking it. I'm currently reading our book of the month and will be reading The Dragon Hunter next.

message 91: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments Nice. :) How are you liking Immortal Rules?

message 92: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (jackiegirl02) | 4614 comments It was a pretty good book. I will be continuing with the series.

message 93: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (jackiegirl02) | 4614 comments Have you read it?

message 94: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments No. I don't think I would enjoy it very much. Maybe one day though.

message 95: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (jackiegirl02) | 4614 comments Oh? Why not?

message 96: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments The synopsis just doesn't seem like a book that I would be interested in.

message 97: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (jackiegirl02) | 4614 comments Ahh, gotcha. It seemed off at first, but it got really good fast, and the main character isn't as whiny as most—if at all.

message 98: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments Well I'm glad you enjoyed it! It's nice when books surprise you. :)

message 99: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (jackiegirl02) | 4614 comments It sure is. What are you reading?

message 100: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments Still reading the fifth Wheel of Time. About halfway through. Also buddy reading Someday Dancer with my sister.

I should be getting The Raven King on Tuesday, so I'll start that then. :)
