2nd Quarter Challenge: Clear the Shelves
Duration: 1 April - 30 June 2016
Status: 17/20

I have a habit of bringing books home from the library, but then taking forever to read them - or worse, returning them unread! My version of this challenge is to read the library books I have in my possession as of 31 March 2016. I'm starting with an initial goal of 20, but I'm hoping for much more!

Megan (lahairoi) | 7470 comments Just completed my first book - I Am Malala: The Girl Who Stood Up for Education and Was Shot by the Taliban by Malala Yousafzai. Inspirational story about a courageous young girl! I most appreciated how she included things about her age, like Twilight and working on her hair, that made her a person, rather than a saintly figure. There was a bit of repetition and some of the historical aspects could be a touch tedious, but overall, definitely worth reading! 4.5 stars

Sylvia Swann | 8 comments I'm definitely in. I married another writer 3 years ago. We finally started combining our libraries and it's crazy in here! Our dining room library is now fiction only and I'm eliminating duplicates, but we've got a long way to go. I'm currently gearing up for a yard sale that will include lots of books. Then we made the mistake of going to an estate sale that had a ton of books they were practically giving away. So now we have more books on Judaism and baseball (all his). I'm still determined to pare things down.

Cassandra, I can't help wondering if you've been inspired by Marie Kondo's books. I read them both. I'll never quite get to her place but I'm working on simplifying. She definitely inspired me.

Right now I'm categorizing the non-fiction from shelves all through my house. As I go, I"m eliminating. I can't give a number but here's a start.

1. Bazaar Great Style: Best Ways to Update Your Look
2. The LUCKY Guide to Mastering Any Style
3. Cindy Crawford's Basic Face
4. My First Bible (kid's book bought for a gift but I still have another)
5. Suzanne Somers: The Sexy Years
6. The Leopard - Giuseppe Di Lampedusa
7. Ava's Man - Rick Bragg (2 copies)
8. To Kill a Mockingbird (don't worry. I have another copy)
9. Basic Christianity
10. You: The Owner's Manual - Mehmet Oz

And that's just a start. I've got a pile of 50 books ready for a yard sale. So glad we're doing this!

Destiny (destinyfsingh) | 59 comments Okay. I've been on a book buying spree since right before Christmas and I only started reading my new books and getting back into reading since the beginning of March, so....put me down for 5.

I'm hoping to read 10 since I have at least that many on my bookshelf, not to mention audiobooks, and my TBR list, but I'll commit to 5 since I'll probably be having a baby at some point this month. Then I might have to readjust and turn to my Nook because I can only use one hand while constantly holding a baby.

1. Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children
2. Gone Girl
3. To Kill a Mockingbird
4. Go Set a Watchman
5. The Girl on the Train

Taylor C | 454 comments I love this challenge! Especially since I can add extra requirements. I'm going to start this challenge with 5.
Quick explanation: I've started the Dorothy Must Die series! I have the first 2 books and the first 4 novellas on my kindle. They have to be finished so I can get book #3 from my library in time!
Also, I want to start Scarlet by Marissa Meyer. My book schedule usually depends on when the library has the next copy available.
I've been slacking so I need to spend things up!
Books and Novellas 1-4 by Danielle Paige
1. The Witch Must Burn
2. The Wizard Returns
3. The Wicked Will Rise
4. Heart of Tin
5. Scarlet byMarissa Meyer

It happens :) I caught your response though, and that's really exciting! I hope you get a chance to read it soon. I definitely enjoyed it! I'm a bit older than expected for the book; the reading style is explained too thoroughly. But none the less I can't seem to put the novellas down! :)

Lori I'm in for this I has so many on my TBR list it's not even funny and I found a bag full of books over spring break and discover I had rebought the audio for a book I had so put me down for 20 books. If I can include all the small stuff too (small stuff for me are: fiction less than 80 pages and non-fiction less than 50 pages) I need to raise my goal significantly. I'm reading many shorter stories when I can't concentrate or need something different in-between ;-)
