I finished Daughter of the Siren Queen (Daughter of the Pirate King, #2) by Tricia Levenseller and I really enjoyed this one, more than the first. Great pirate and sea adventure!

Also finished Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda (Creekwood, #1) by Becky Albertalli which was really cute. Tessa and I are going to go to the movie today I think.

Still rereading Ready Player One by Ernest Cline and also rereading The Necromancer (The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel, #4) by Michael Scott

About halfway through Heart of Iron (Heart of Iron, #1) by Ashley Poston and I'm really enjoying this one.

Donna (donanicole) | 897 comments Just read Slave (Slave #1) by Laura Frances Which I had for a while and so glad I read it. Now reading the second in the series Hero (Slave #2) by Laura Frances
I'm also listened to The Fire Queen (The Hundredth Queen, #2) by Emily R. King after finishing the first The Hundredth Queen (The Hundredth Queen, #1) by Emily R. King

Started listening to An Ember in the Ashes (An Ember in the Ashes, #1) by Sabaa Tahir
which I have heard about from you guys forever but finally am listening instead of reading.
I have been reading a lot, actually. Even though I have not appeared here for a while.
I have so many books I want to read.

message 3609: by Donna (new)

Donna (donanicole) | 897 comments I also read When a Grandchild Dies What to Do, What to Say, How to Cope by Nadine Galinsky Feldman and The Unspeakable Loss How Do You Live After a Child Dies? by Nisha Zenoff
There are not many books about losing a grandchild. It is similar to losing a child but you also mourn for your child who lost their child. And the brothers and sisters left behind. I may have to write my own book.

message 3610: by Donna (new)

Donna (donanicole) | 897 comments I also read Barren Book 1 : War in the Ruins. This does not come up in any search I do. But the second book does BARREN Book 2 - Escape from the Ruins (A Post-Apocalyptic Thriller) by J. Thorn

Barren (War in the Ruins, #1) by J. Thorn

Here it is. Just type Barren Thorn (title and authors last name) and both books come up.

Catherine Bruno | 771 comments Finished Children of Blood and Bone and absolutely loved it! Hopefully I can meet her at Yallwest and get my book signed! Started reading The 5th Wave, not sure how I feel about it yet but I’m going to give it a shot.

message 3629: by Emilie (new)

Emilie | 35 comments I went to the local book fair "lire à Limoges" today and I am proud to announce that I made it happen to actually come back with only five books (all signed !) Et voilà ! That was hard, but I did it !! Cheers ! My hands still shake and get sweaty when I think about the half ton of paper I had to left behind, but I actually was able to make reasonnable choices and not just jump on everything because it was paper-made and bearing words... My self-conducted therapy is going well aparently ;) I'm already halfway through thinking I could apply to work on a book store without being kicked out on the first day for hiding in a locker at closure time, but let's not jump to conclusions, the road might still be long for me... :D
So I ended up with three of an author whose family almost raised me as a kid with their books (the murrail family, all three of them siblings writers) L'horloge de l'apocalypse by Lorris Murail Shanoë by Lorris Murail and the whole Golem series, one from a local author I had met at Cultura during a signing session and who writes fantasy about the ruins of a castle a few miles away from home Bonneval ou la grandeur des âmes (Châlucet ou le pouvoir des rêves #2) by Baranger Pierre-Jean and a polar (ok that one I can't really explain because I usually am not interested in polars, but the author was nice, we talked for a while, sooo....) Colère Noire by Jacques Saussey
That and the stuff already in my kindle, added to the huge amount of French bank holidays coming in May, (sighs) what a feeling !

What I've finished recently:

Reread of This Savage Song (Monsters of Verity, #1) by Victoria Schwab 5 stars. I think I loved it even more the second time. I got more details in the world builidng.

Reread Red Queen Collector's Edition by Victoria Aveyard 5 stars

Reread Gemina (The Illuminae Files, #2) by Amie Kaufman 5 stars, again loved it even more the 2nd time

Finished Prophet of Doom Delphi Chronicles Book One by D.S. Murphy which was a pretty cool read. Had a few issues, but I did really enjoy it! 4 stars

Finished Kat in Zombieland (White Rabbit Chronicles) by Gena Showalter which was a nice little addition to the series, 4 stars

Finished The Invasion of the Tearling (The Queen of the Tearling, #2) by Erika Johansen 5 stars. I love the turns this series has taken. I just loved all the backstory in this and all the things we learned as readers. The world buiding keeps adding, as does the character development. This is great political fantasy!

Right now I'm reading Persuasion by Jane Austen which I'm really liking, and Renegades (Renegades, #1) by Marissa Meyer which is awesome so far!

message 3634: by Donna (new)

Donna (donanicole) | 897 comments I am reading the third in the series, The Ferrymen (The Culling Book 3) by Ramona Finn and am excited to get started. I am listening to I Am Watching You by Teresa Driscoll and am listening to The Rogue Queen (The Hundredth Queen, #3) by Emily R. King which is the third book in The Hundredth Queen series.
I finished A Higher Loyalty Truth, Lies, and Leadership by James Comey and am also listening to A Torch Against the Night (An Ember in the Ashes, #2) by Sabaa Tahir which I am almost finished with.
So many good books I have in my Kindle Queue to read.

No Yallwest for me either. 😕 I have Phoenix ComiCon coming up in less than 4 weeks! They just announced Diana Gabaldon! There are a bunch of great authors attending this year.

And then, like Jenny, I am also broke and have to cool it for a while! 😝

I started out following authors I liked on their social media, and I saw announcements of their signings. This gave me annual events which I started following. Also local bookstores. ☺
