Oh man, it feels like ages since I was last on here. I'm sure it's only been a few days though. 😉 I was on a family trip and there was no time for much social media. But I did have a nice time with all the extended family.

Before I left on my trip, I finished Mars One by Jonathan Maberry , Dragonquest (Pern Dragonriders of Pern, # 2) by Anne McCaffrey on audio, and started The Knife of Never Letting Go (Chaos Walking, #1) by Patrick Ness on audio during the car ride. I didn't think the grandkids were listening but when we got to the hotel, I had two out of three ask me questions about it, and tell me they listened and were enjoying it. 😆

I finished reading The White Dragon (Pern Dragonriders of Pern, #3) by Anne McCaffrey at the hotel and started Dragonsong (Harper Hall, #1) by Anne McCaffrey on audio today. Yes, I'm apparently binge re-reading The Dragonriders of Pern books... for the gazillionth time. I can't seem to help myself.

I finished Crooked Kingdom (Six of Crows, #2) by Leigh Bardugo last night and LOVED it!! I want more of that world, hopefully Leigh Bardugo will write a spin off series!

Started The Last Ever After (The School for Good and Evil, #3) by Soman Chainani good so far.

Yes I did! I just can't believe how much Leigh Bardugo has grown as a writer. The difference between Shadow & Bone and Crooked Kingdom is astounding!

I was also extremely happy that Strumhound (Nikolai) played a part in this one. He was my favorite character from Shadow & Bone :)

Thea (All About Books) (keepkalmandreadbooks) I just started The You I've Never Known by Ellen Hopkins.

So true! Even bestselling authors have room for improvement and it's great to see when they do. Couldn't agree more :)

I'm still working on my beta read, almost finished. Then I will start the sequel to Brilliance I think, although my Kindle is fully loaded right now ;)

message 2512: by Barb (new)

Barb (bubasbookshelf) I'm currently reading three books at the same time. Sashenka by Simon Sebag Montefiore is very interesting so far, but I'm just a little bit disappointed by it.

Anna and the French Kiss (Anna and the French Kiss, #1) by Stephanie Perkins is your YA contemlorary cliche, but rather enjoyable one for that matter

Dubhán Reborn (The Oporto Series, #1) by Catia M Rodrigues I started reading this one laat week and I don't really like writing style of it, although I really like MC's relationship with her parents.

I also got Republic of Stone by Tanja Radman from Amazon while it's free on Kindle. So if you want to know more about the town where they filmed scenes in King's Landing wrapped up into fantasy, go ahead and check it out!

Agree completely on Anna! I really loved it, but yes, definitely very YA cliche romance :)

I started A Court of Mist and Fury (A Court of Thorns and Roses, #2) by Sarah J. Maas and I'm loving it so far! Very romance heavy in the beginning, but now we are getting to some fantastic world building and some awesome new characters.

I finished Caraval and I enjoyed it. I've seen many mixed reviews on it but it was good enough. The ending threw me off but I hear there is another one after this one. That would be very satisfying if done correctly.

Elora Mitchell | 449 comments I just read American Housewife by Helen Ellis and it was a nice short read. The first few pages were a turn off, but once I got to the first short story, it was fun.
It's pitched as a collection of humorous stories, but what I didn't know is that they were subtle, dark humor stories (right up my alley. shh....don't tell anyone, but I know plenty of people with shovels and land to fill and garden beds to fertilize). ;)
Anyway, it was nothing to write home about, but it was a fun way to pass the afternoon--especially if you just need to unwind.

I finished my beta read and am almost halfway done with A Better World (Brilliance Saga, #2) by Marcus Sakey . It's every bit as good as the first, maybe even better. Love this series!! It's tempting to read in bed every morning, but I am forcing myself up and to my laptop so I can continue writing the next book in The Fatemarked Epic. The series is selling so well that I don't want to keep anyone waiting too long for the next book :) :) :)
