I finished
which I really enjoyed. I loved the action! I also just finished
which I found a little disappointing. The last 1/3 of the book was really good but the rest of the book was a little slow.

It was cool! It was fun to meet Karen too.
I've finished The Martian, which was a really good read... Not amazing, but worth reading, I think. Now I'm reading The Adventure of Stan and the Emerald of Foundation.

I read the book recently too, and watched the movie some time ago, and agree that they're both excellent. Had me in tears, but still excellent.

Finished Shatter Me and holy cow it was good. Was going to start TKONLG, but because the plot sounded a little similar to what I had just finished, I decided to read something else to give me some space. So I have started The Impostor Queen by Sarah Fine.

They're both dystopias but the similarities end there. :D I understand wanting to mix things up though! Hope you enjoy TKONLG when you get to it, it's one of my all-time favorites. :)
Donna wrote: "Oh Christina, I loved that book!! I hope you do too!!"
I am enjoying it. :) I had to put it on hold because A Court of Mist and Fury
came in at the library and there are no renewals and it's a tome!! lol But I am 200 pages in and pleasantly surprised at how hard it is to put down. I felt only so-so about the first book. This book is so much better...

I loved the Shatter Me trilogy. I need to re-read at some point.

OK, good to know in terms of setting my expectations. Though I think I'll be fine because I just finished a 900-page book that was a little slow at times. 450 pages will seem to fly by!

Yeah, I second that! TKONLG is different than ANYTHING else you'll read, so I hope you get to try it soon!

I just finished The Winner's Curse by Marie Rutkoski. It was good. I'll read the other two in the trilogy as I get them from the library. Now starting Half a King by Joe Abercrombie. I've been curious about this trilogy for a while so I'm looking forward to diving into it.

What Brigid said!! :)
What Brigid said!! :)
I finished The Adventure of Stan and the Emerald of Foundation. Then I read Bala-Gala the Brave and Dangerous and What Zombies Fear: A Farmer's Daughter. Now I'm reading The Drafter.
Rereading the Southern Vampire Mystery series because I still need to read the last two or three books. Don't want to get it mixed up with True Blood.
I'm working on reading the "rangers apprentice" series by John Flanagan. :D one the best middle grade fantasy series out there.

Sooo, I'm halfway through
. I like it and am definitely invested in the story. But, like some others, I don't love it. My biggest issue is how many coincidences there are. I also am not feeling the emotional connection to the MC I think I should considering what happened to her. Something is just not quite clicking. HOWEVER, I am enjoying the journey aspect of it, particularly the historical fiction. I also like the concept (her "gold magic" is the most compelling part of the story). And some of the writing is really beautiful, as well as witty. So overall it's been worth reading for me, even if it won't make my favorites shelf :) :) :)

I started The Hidden Oracle today and I am already about 200 pages into it. I'm hoping I can finish it tonight since I have work for the next few days.

I think the historical aspect was what did it for me! I knew that the journey was tough but wow!!! I had never really read or seen how tough before. That's what I took away from this book and why I loved it!

Ditto, Karen. I really loved the historical aspect of it! To be honest, I didn't even need the fantasy element to love it, but it was cool and different! The pages flew by in this read for me!
I actually read it while I was on vacation in Arizona. We were so tired at the end of the day and too busy to read much, so it did take me all week...otherwise I think I might have read it in a single sitting!

Just finished
and
I wasn't sure if I was going to read any of these after I finished
, since he had intended this as a standalone. But I didn't have anything left on my shelf from the library, so I picked one up. Amazing! If I hadn't known that it was only supposed to be the one, I never would have known after I read the sequels. The world was fantastic, and he delved even deeper into the ethics of unwinding and seeing more sides of the issue and how people tried to justify their actions. *shivers running down spine now*

You just described these books perfectly! Especially the *shivers* part! ;)
