I finished
last night. He is such a great author! I started
today. Pretty good so far. It's made me lol quite a few times already! :)
Finished The Kingdom of Back. It fell a little flat for me and I was disappointed by it. Started I Hope You Get This Message, it’s interesting so far.
I’ve not posted reviews in a couple of weeks, so here are my reviews for the books I’ve read since my last update:Dragonfly in Amber
by Diana Gabaldon
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
This would have been a five star read. The story itself was certainly good enough to deserve to be. However, the way the two timelines were split threw me a bit at first, even though it made sense in the end, and the way the 1968 parts kept changing from first to third person was a bit annoying. Then there was the cliffhanger ending, which is a pet peeve of mine. So, yeah... An amazing story, but this one only gets four stars from me, because of the issues I've just mentioned. I'm so glad I had the next book ready to start reading right away!
Voyager
by Diana Gabaldon
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This book wasn't quite as good as the first book in the series, but was definitely better than the second, and I really enjoyed it. I love seeing both the good and bad parts of their relationships while following their adventures... It makes them feel more real.
was really good! I was also an overthinker with low self esteem when I was the main character's age, so it was very relatable. Plus it was a freebie from netgalley! :) It's time to finish the Lunar Chronicles... I think I'm ready for it to end...
Oh wow, Victoria. TWO Outlander books! They’re massive!! I finish one a year. I agree with your reviews. You were right on. I’m slowly listening to The Fiery Cross now. But in starts and stops and in between other books.
Glad you agree with my reviews, Karen.I'm not surprised they take you so long to read. I'm doing little else besides reading them, only taking breaks now and then to watch a few episodes of a TV show, sleep, and sort some eMails. Even so, it's taking me about a week per book. Bearing in mind, I'm even listening while doing housework, making dinner, etc.
Finished I Hope You Get This Message, which I loved. Started Winterwood, which is hauntingly beautiful so far.
Finished the Dragon Heart Trilogy tonight and started in on Never Deal With A Dragon, the first in the Secrets of Power trilogy. They’re books I read in high school, so comfort fiction.
Finished Winterwood, had mixed feelings. Started Ace of Shades and I’m likeing it so far. Also reading Stamped: Racism, Antiracism, and You and I’m learning a lot.
I’m reading Queen of Shadows by SJM!!! I’m about 55% done and it’s so good! I forgot how bada$$ Manon is and well my love affair with Aelin and Rowan continues!! This year is all about finishing unfinished series for me so I’m determined to jump right into Empire of Storms after this!!!
@Victoria, I loved Outlander and am listening to Dragonfly In Amber on Scribd right now!!! The narrator is really good!

Since my last update, I finished the "Outlander" book I was reading, started the next in the series, and read a book I was given in exchange for a review. So, here are my reviews for the books I've finished:Drums of Autumn (Outlander, #4)
by Diana Gabaldon
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I've been emotionally invested in Jamie and Claire's story since the first book, but this was the first time I not only cared about Roger and Briana's story, but was also just as emotionally invested in it as I already was in Jamie and Claire's story (even if it's Jamie I care most about the fate of). This book had me on an emotional rollercoaster from start to finish - one I was so reluctant to get off that I literally listened to my audio copy of this book every chance I got. I have no hesitation at all in awarding this book the full five stars.
Conjuring God
by Jason Howl
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I have to admit, this is not my usual kind of read, and I probably wouldn't have read it if I hadn't been given a copy. However, it's a well-written story, which made it a reasonably good read for me, despite it not really being my thing. It's got a solid plot, and believable characters, so if you like a heavy sprinkling of God in your stories, there's a good chance you'll enjoy this one. I mean, I don't, and I still somewhat enjoyed it.
*NOTE: I was given a free copy of this book by the author in exchange for an honest review. This fact - while being the reason I picked the book up in the first place - has had no influence on either my opinion of the book, or the contents of this review.
Victoria, Drums of Autumn was a favorite!! Great review! I bet you surpass me with The Fiery Cross! Lol.
Finished Ace of Shades, which I loved! Not sure if I'm going to start Amber and Dusk (I'm trying to get through my back log of Owlcrate books) or finish up City of Ashes.
I’m 70% done with Queen of Shadows and I wish I could read faster!!! It is soooo good! Just read through a scene with Rowan and Aelin that was so hot! Since I hurt my back and fell on it I’ve been laying in bed and reading when I’m not resting and drugged out! I got a present today though. Lexi and Oscar bought me the book NeverMoor and the Hermione Granger cat funko pop!!!
Started reading
with my son today. We are really enjoying this series. Nothing makes me happier than when he gets excited about a book. :)
Karen’s Library wrote: "Victoria, Drums of Autumn was a favorite!! Great review! I bet you surpass me with The Fiery Cross! Lol."LOL! I'm almost two thirds of the way through The Fiery Cross.
Finished Stamped: Racism, Antiracism, and You. I think it's my favorite book of 2020. Decided to finish up City of Ashes, which I am enjoying. I might take a break from my Owlcrate pile because I bought Serpent & Dove and I'm dying to read it.
Finished City of Ashes, can’t wait to read book three! Started reading Restore Me so I can finish the Shatter Me series!
Catherine, I really enjoyed the first 3 books of that series! She should have stopped at book 3. 😳😝
