Sushicat | 843 comments Mark wakes up in hospital after two weeks and finds his life shattered: his wife is dead, his six month old daughter has vanished and the police keep looking at him as the prime suspect. He wants only one thing: He wants his daughter back. At whatever cost. But the ransom payment goes wrong. 18 months later a second ransom note arrives. A hoax or a second chance?

Harlan Coben takes us on another roller coaster ride, with layers and layers of complexity. And at the end it all makes sense.

Susie Sounds like a great mystery thriller. I've added so many to my list this month which is great as it is a favourite genre. I'll add this too. Thanks!

LibraryCin | 11663 comments Susie, Harlan Coben is soooo good, if you've not read anything by him. As few of his books have become favourites of mine, and he might be right up there as a favourite author. Certainly one of (along with Linwood Barclay) my favourite mystery/thriller authors.

Susie I must give him a go! Thanks. :-)

LibraryCin | 11663 comments My favourites (so far) by him are The Woods and Gone for Good.

But, really, except for one in the middle of his Myron Bolitar series (I should have started at the start of the series!), everything I've read by him has been at least 4 stars.

Susie I just read the synopses. I think I'll start with Gone for Good. :-)

Those two are top notch. Not overly gruesome and with complex intelligent plots, heavy on characterization. If you haven't read any yet, you're in for a treat.

Susie I have only tried one Linwood Barclay and wasn't a fan. Perhaps I tried the wrong one? It was No Time For Goodbye. Any other recommendations?

I liked that one well enough. So perhaps he is not for you. But do try Harlan Coben.

Uh oh... No Time for Goodbye was my favourite by Barclay. I do find they are very similar, though. Hopefully, you'll like Coben better, anyway.

Susie I'll give be him a whirl soon and let you know. :-)
