Hello all!

Tabitha Barret has offered to host a new event! Here is the message I'm sharing with you :)

I wanted to host an interactive zone on Facebook because contests and games are a little harder to play on Goodreads since I love asking for photos responses. I thought about opening up time slots for author takeovers for Urban Fantasy / Paranormal Romance / Fantasy / Romance /Erotica authors during the 3 days. Would it possible for you to help me see if there is any interest from the group? I'm looking for people who want to interact with the readers, not just post their book links during their hour. I want a place where readers feel like they are apart of things. Sound like fun? Let me know your thoughts. Thanks!

If you are interested in this PLEASE reply below and Tabitha will be in touch! :)

message 13: by Tabitha (new)

Tabitha Barret (tabithabarret) | 26 comments Wow! I'm happy to see that we have a lot of interested authors! Thank you!

I'm still working through the details, but I want this area to focus on a multimedia experience for the readers. I want to try to add short videos possibly introducing the authors before their time slot. Within my own hour, I was thinking about introducing a game via video. I think it will bring a new aspect to the conference and allow readers to have a one on one feeling like at a live convention.

I'm not sure if any of you are able to record and upload short videos to Facebook, but I hope some of you can give it a try. (Introduce yourself. Offer up a clue for a scavenger hunt within your own booth. Briefly talk about your book as a teaser. Challenge them to a game. There are plenty of ways to incorporate a short video into the take over.)

I will be available all day during the 9th and 10th, though I will not be available until later in the evening on the 8th to host the event. (My day time job limits me there.) If there is any interest on doing a takeover on the 8th, I can prerecord the welcome video and provide intro videos for the authors that day, and they can post it at the beginning of their time.

April 8 - we'll leave open for now to see if anyone can assist me or if we will just do a short takeover in the evening.

April 9th - time slots can be open to authors for a full hour between 2 pm EST and 9 EST

April 10th - time slots can be open to authors for a full hours between 2pm EST and 9 EST

Because this is an international convention, the time slots can be adjusted for UK authors, if they are willing to post the welcome video since I probably won't be awake to host it.

What I will need:
1) Let me know which date and time slot you are interested in.
2) I will need to know your author name, your genre, and your books titles or series titles (the ones you plan to focus on during the takeover)
3) If you are able to post a prerecorded video that I provide (or that you create), if you are planning to take over while I'm unavailable.
4) Any creative ideas you have to add to the interactive zone. We want to make this as fun and interesting as possible.

I will be doing an interview with Joe Compton about this event so we can drive some traffic our way once we have the details in place.

Thank you!

Tabitha

Tabitha Barret (tabithabarret) | 26 comments Hello! I have set up the Interactive Event. It will be called Readers' Fantasyland. Here is the link on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/events/70087...

Please "Join" the Event and promote it in your Goodreads booth / Facebook accounts and invite your friends and readers. I have an interview this Fri to promote the event, so I'm hoping that we can boost the number of interested readers.

I will be reaching out to the interested authors that have not picked a time slot yet so that we can get things started.

I did have one suggestion regarding contest and games. Since this a 2 day event (3 if we have interested people for Fri), I suggest holding off announcing the winners until the end of the event Sun night. There will be stragglers and late comers, so it will give everyone a chance to participate if they can't be at the live takeovers. If you want to end the contests at a different time, please state that during your contest so that readers know when to expect the announcement. (Readers get cranky when they are waiting to see if they won.)

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks!

Tabitha

Please "Join" the event and promote it in your B2BCYCON booth. Please invite friends, readers, and other
authors. I have an interview Fri night to promote the event, so hopefully we can boost our turn out.

The goal of this event is to create an interactive zone where readers can see, hear, and speak with the authors.
I plan on posting videos introducing the authors (unless the author can setup their own videos). This
is a convention and I'm hoping to create the one-on-one interactive feel that readers have during live events. Please
be creative with your takeovers and try to get people to participate with games, teasers, puzzles, contests, and
giveaways while talking about your books.

If you have never done an author takeover, please let me know and we can talk about different ways to get
people to interact with you during your time slot.

One suggestion I have: Since this event is 2 or 3 days...depending on the interest on Fri, I would hold off on
announcing the winners for contests or giveaways until Sun night when the event closes. It will give late comers
and stragglers time to play if they can't attend during the live takeover. If you want to close the contests
at the end of your time slot, please state that in your contests rules. Readers like to know when to expect
to hear the winner annoucements.

Here is what I need...as soon as possible since we late creating this event. (Please email me your responses
at tabithabarret@gmail.com)

1) Let me know which date and time slot you are interested in. Currently Apr 9th 10am, 2pm, and 5pm have been reserved.
I have the author schedule listed in the pinned post in the event if you want to see the available times.
I will list the authors as quickly as I can once a spot is claimed.
2) I will need to know your author name, your genre, and your books titles or series titles
(the ones you plan to focus on during the takeover)
3) If you are able to post a prerecorded video that I provide (or that you create),
if you are planning to take over while I'm unavailable.
4) Any creative ideas you have to add to the interactive zone. We want to make this as
fun and interesting as possible.
5) Send me the link to your event booth on Goodreads.
6) If you have a tricky name, please let me know how to pronounce it during the video intros (if I'm doing one for you)
I am really bad at names, so forgive me in advance.)

Please let me know if you have any questions!

I'm trying to figure out how to add pictures to my booth for my games. Is there a way to do this? I've seen other booths with pictures. I've spent 4 hours trying to find a way.

LOL! I just going to add the event photo to my booth and dreading it. You have to use html. Here's a short cut. Use an HTML creator. http://www.quackit.com/html/online-ht... or something similar that you find on Google. Enter your text and click the photo button to link to an existing photo somewhere, like your website. Use the LINK button to create hyperlinks back to your website or Facebook.

Once you have the text and photo layout click SOURCE. It will create the code. Copy and paste it into the threat you created. It might take a few try to get it the way you want.

Let me know if you need more help. I also used http://html-generator.weebly.com/html...

I think this was a little easier to use.

I'm glad it worked. I struggled with it at first too. I'm getting the hang of it now.
