Oh no :( I'm just started lol. What was wrong with it? I just read Dorothy Must Die and that was an amazing retelling for the Wizard of Oz. So my expectations for a retelling for that story will be pretty high. Unfortunately this book is also a retelling for Wizard of Oz.

Forbidden Wish, Cruel Beauty and MAYBE Dorothy Must Die. But Dorothy Must Die is an acquired taste. I would read my review on it first before you decide to pick it up.

But definitely the first two. I think you should like it. What's a retelling that you really liked?

Chapter 1-5: (view spoiler)[ I see your point. I'm honestly bored already. I'm seeing many similarities to the things I didn't like with Shadow Queen in this book. I was hoping Dorthea would be cool because she's sassy and snarky. But she's more spoiled, selfish and childish. (hide spoiler)]

I'm kind of skimming and fast reading because I'm sure this is not my type of book and nowhere near high bar that Dorothy Must Die just set for every other Wizard of Oz retelling. The book is trying too hard to be original and defined but it's just resulting in cheesiness. I mean pixing and thank the grimm? Really? I like it when authors attempt to create expressions for their own world. It brings that world more alive but this is just weird and not in a good way (hide spoiler)]

5-12: (view spoiler)[ Sorry if I'm making this brief and fast but my thoughts are pretty general across the board. Dorthea is still a spoiled brat. I can't decided if I like Kato or not. The weirdness is transitioning into something more funny which is good because the book is now more tolerable and enjoyable. But it's still pretty cheesy. (hide spoiler)]

I have finished this book finally. Here are my thoughts.
