I recently finished the Red Rising series and it is by far one of my favorite. I've transitioned to the Mistborn Series (Brandon Sanderson) and while I find it interesting, it doesn't have the action, violence, or plot twists the Pierce Brown series did. Also, I feel like the character development is really drawn out in this particular series.
Any recommendations of series closer to the characteristics I really enjoyed from the Red Rising series? I'm fairly new to this particular genre, so I still have a lot to read, but everything I've gotten into so far has not been as interesting to me as Pierce Brown works. I became bored with the legal "thrillers" and Dan Brown novels. The last book I really enjoyed other than the Red Rising trilogy is Ready Player One (Ernest Cline), but that's obviously not a space opera. Thanks so much!
The Red Rising series actually flirts that line between adult and young adult science fiction. Don't overlook some of the YA-friendly picks, they tend to have a faster pace.
