A distant mirror

This is about the Middle ages, I mean everything about the middle ages from politics to battles. She is VERY descriptive. For example, “At sundown the curfew bell rang for closing time, work ceased, shops were shuttered, silence succeeded bustle. At eight o'clock, when the Angelus bell signaled bedtime, the city was in darkness.” She talked about equality, day to day life, everything that would have gone on, she explained it to you at a point where you have a vivid picture in your head. At times, I wasn’t very intrigued but then something would happy and make me want to keep reading because of how well she does describe. I did like this book very much.

If you want to know what the 14th century was like, this is the best book ever. War, famine, pestilence and a complete absence of chivalry. It is indeed a Distant Mirror.
