A woman with a secret...

Reckless beauty Lily Lawson delights in shocking London society. She will break any rule to get what she wants . . . and she is determined to stop her younger sister from marrying Alex, Lord Wolverton, a handsome and arrogant earl who has vowed never to fall in love.

A man who will do anything to possess her...

To Alex's fury, the headstrong hellion presents a temptation he can't resist. He vows to make her pay dearly for her interference—with her body, her soul, and her stubborn, well-guarded heart.

As Alex and Lily challenge each other at every turn, they are caught up in a white-hot desire that burns through every defense and exposes the mystery of Lily's past . . . and together they discover that love is the most dangerous game of all.

Lara | 2335 comments I have mixed feelings about these books. I read this one last year and have started the second. While I don't plan t reread this one, I'll participate in the discussion. And I'm hoping this will motivate me to finish the second book too.

ShoSho (shoshost) | 12263 comments I gave 4.5 stars to this one exactly a year ago. I think I remember it enough to participate in the discussion.
Book#2 is not as good (still good though )but there is novella #2.5 which I loved!

Lauren (laurenjberman) I'm starting today

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments Oh, I should have started this one today. **sigh** I have it on audio, which I haven't listened to, yet. Maybe, when I finish the one I'm in... if I can get my ShelfBingo book done.

Lauren (laurenjberman) Finished and enjoyed it overall. It does have some tropes that I am not a fan of such as (view spoiler) But I loved Lily and Alex's love hate relationship and their antics made me laugh.

Lara | 2335 comments I thought Lily was fabulous at getting under his skin. But, I wasn't a fan of her recklessness and desperation. She did some really stupid things.

I agree and there was also an inconsistency in her characterization. On the one hand, she is desperate to get her child back but on the other she risks her life repeatedly. What would have happened to Nicole if she died on one of her reckless escapades?

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments Hmmm. It's been awhile since I read this book. I don't remember laughing. You have me intrigued, Martha.

I really like the audio version.

So true. After a while I lost patience and sympathy for her due to her thoughtless behavior. When she was walking through that dangerous neighborhood I lost my ability to suspend disbelief. I was just annoyed by her inability to use her brain when it came to her child. And that's after she's spent years trying to get information. She does her best to ruin everything through her rash actions.
