Daphne (daphnesm) | 937 comments 1: Are you a TV or Movie person?
Both and probably a bit of either. I don't watch much of either. I don't even own a TV or couch to watch it on.

2: What are some of your favorite current TV shows?
Well, I am completely and utterly in love with all things RuPaul's Drag Race. I fan girl on drag queens sooooo bad.

3: What are some of your favorite TV shows no longer on?
Torchwood...
...I needs it back.

4: What are some of your favorite movies?
My favorite movie ever is 300. I watched it five times in the theater. I am firmly convinced that if the ancient Greeks had our modern tech to make movies, then this is exactly the movie they would have made. They also would have crucified all the assholes that ruined The Illiad. Troy was truly one of the worst movies ever made.

5: Any (other) sports fans? :) What's your sport?
I'm a big fan of ancient Mayan Pok-ta-tok. Does that count? I'm a big fan of ritual sacrifice at the end of any sports game. It's how you know they really are trying.

I'm both, definitely!

2: What are some of your favorite current TV shows?

Jane the Virgin, Doctor Who, The Originals, Grimm, The Walking Dead, The Bastard Executioner

3: What are some of your favorite TV shows no longer on?

Gossip Girl, Lie to Me, Secrets and Lies(was on last year, and was only 10 episodes, but I SO wish it would've been longer...and that it would come back on and tell what happened after the ending), True Blood, Rags to Riches(a show I loved as a kid), Nightengales(another show I loved as a kid)

4: What are some of your favorite movies?

Ever After <--LOVE THIS, I can recite every line when it's on...that's how many times I've seen it, The Notebook, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Clueless, Uptown Girl, A Time to Kill, Romeo and Juliet(the one from 1968)...oh man, the list can go on and on, honestly.

5: Any (other) sports fans? :) What's your sport?

Definitely a sports fan. I LOVE NFL season!!! Go Bengals, Who-Dey!

Uhoh Jo-Jo! I promise to be civil, if you are. ;) Hehe! I can play nice with Bengal fans. I have one Bengal fan friend ..... we haven't really talked since the playoffs. Nah, we're not that close anyways, just a gaming buddy.

We'll just have to agree to disagree, ok? LOL!

Here We Go!!

Karsyn (imzadi) TV & Movies for me:

1: Are you a TV or Movie person?
TV definitely, though I don't watch a whole lot of either anymore. I dunno why, I like my kind of movies when I take the time to watch them, I just normally don't take the time to watch them. :) I will if it really grabs my attention (like The Martian, which I loved).

2: What are some of your favorite current TV shows?
That we are up to date on ~ Big Bang Theory, How to Get Away with Murder and American Ninja Warrior. That I'm actually behind on ~ NCIS (a season behind, for the first time ever) & Castle (2 seasons behind).

3: What are some of your favorite TV shows no longer on?
Warehouse 13!!!!!!! Any other fans? I watched it religiously, wanted to cry when it ended too soon. It was the best, and the fictional world I'd most want to live in, that's not a book. Love it!! (I hope there are other fans. I've created a unique reading challenge based on WH13, so I hope that I'll find some people interested in doing it, it'll be a while though.) Also ~ Lost, Smallville, The Sing Off, Ground Floor (well, 1st season), Almost Human, Lie to Me, Star Trek TNG & Voyager.

4: What are some of your favorite movies?
The MUMMY & The Mummy Returns!! Con Air, Cool Runnings (those 4 are my - can quote most, if not all, word for word), ST First Contact, Armageddon, Titanic, Day After Tomorrow, all Harry Potter (especially Azkaban), The Martian.

5: Any (other) sports fans? :) What's your sport?
NFL & MLB here! I'll watch the occasional Nascar race and various Olympic events.

I am a life long Steelers fan (waving to my new Bengals fan). I grew up less than an hour from Pittsburgh and Steelers were bashed into me from a child. It's the only thing of my childhood I've not let go of, I can't give up my Steelers. Never got to see a game back then though. As a child watched and went to Pirates games, but when we moved to FL, stopped watching baseball for years. Did finally go to a Steelers game back in 2004 when they were playing the Jags. It was so awesome! My Hubby is sadly a Bucs fan (having been raised in Central Florida) and has high hopes for the coming years. We'll see! Now we live in North Carolina, so I root for the Panthers now and then.

My Hubby and I decided to both start watching baseball again in 2005 or 2006 and decided to follow the Rays, since they were the closest team to where we were, even got to go to a few games. Then in 2012 we moved up here so no more Rays daily and we had to choose between 3 different teams we could watch. Didn't want the Braves because bandwagon, though I've been to a Braves game. Didn't want Orioles because in same division as Rays. So we started watching the Nationals and they are our #1 team now. LOVE that team, love the players. Still have a fondness for the Rays and Longo but also follow the Cubs a bit now because of Maddon.

1: Are you a TV or Movie person?
TV, made infinitely worse by the invention of Netflix

2: What are some of your favorite current TV shows?
Switched at Birth, Pretty Little Liars, The Walking Dead, and iZombie

3: What are some of your favorite TV shows no longer on?
GILMORE GIRLS, The West Wing, and How I Met Your Mother

4: What are some of your favorite movies?
eh. I like movies fine but I don't really have favorites.

5: Any (other) sports fans? :) What's your sport?
Rugby! Go Team England in the Six Nations!
College basketball. I specifically went to an ACC school, just so I could watch the most amazing college basketball in person.
I love playing any sport (at least once) and I am a die-hard Olympics watcher.

message 8: by Stephanie (last edited Mar 22, 2016 09:27AM) (new)

Stephanie | 194 comments 1: Are you a TV or Movie person?

Both, but I think there is better TV on right now than movies, so I guess I am a TV person. My husband is a movie person, though, so we have a lot of discussions about what we should watch on the weekend.

2: What are some of your favorite current TV shows?

Doctor Who, Sherlock, Daredevil, Jessica Jones, The Flash, Game of Thrones, Agents of Shield, Agent Carter, Supernatural- you know, the super-hero ones.

3: What are some of your favorite TV shows no longer on?

I will forever lament the loss of Moonlight. It even had good ratings! It just had the misfortune of being caught up in the writer's strike and suddenly there was no more Season 2.

Shows that just ended because it was their time include Stargate, Stargate Atlantis, Warehouse 13, Bill Nye the Science Guy and Mr. Roger's Neighborhood.

4: What are some of your favorite movies?

I really like old movies. So, the Wizard of Oz, Mary Poppins, White Christmas, The Sound of Music, Singin' in the Rain, the Philadelphia Story, It's a Wonderful Life (pretty much anything with Jimmy Stewart in it before he turned Western), the Birds, Psycho...

As for newer movies, I like everything superhero- Marvel over DC in the movie world. Outside of superhero movies though, I really enjoyed heck out of the Theory of Everything and the Imitation Game. I liked all the Middle Earth movies, but particularly the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. Lots of favorites, I guess.

5: Any (other) sports fans? :) What's your sport?

I love the sports. I partake in baseball, football and soccer- all Seattle teams. I don't root for any team not from Seattle. So, the Mariners (even though the new manager carved up my team and I am still trying to get over it), the Seahawks and the Sounders (Clint Dempsey is my hero). I also dig the Olympics. I prefer Winter Olympics to the Summer Olympics because I used to do short track speed skating growing up.

Warehouse 13! Right? I think us Warehouse fans should get together and hold a vigil. I loved that show so much! So sad when it got canceled.

JoLene (trvl2mtns) | 705 comments 1: Are you a TV or Movie person?
I used to love going to the movies, but sadly now I fall asleep (no matter if I like it or not -- it's dark and cold so I hibernate). Now I watch TV and movies on TV. I am almost always doing something else like knitting or playing on iPad while watching.

2: What are some of your favorite current TV shows?
Jane the Virgin, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Good Wife, Madam Secretary, Suits, Amazing Race, BBT, Second Chance, Blindspot, Scandal, Switched at Birth, Competition Reality shows like Project Runway and Top Chef

3: What are some of your favorite TV shows no longer on?
Gilmore Girls, How I Met Your Mother, Friends, Forever, White Collar, Necessary Roughness

4: What are some of your favorite movies?
I liked most of the Marvel movies --- just saw Deadpool (surprisingly good). John Cusack movies, Lost Boys, Overboard, Chicago

5: Any (other) sports fans? :) What's your sport?
I love the Tour de France and watch the majority of it on TV during July.
NFL --- I'm a big Saints fan (since I grew up there), don't get to see them much being out here in CA now.
I do route for the Sharks (NHL) but don't watch or go to games very often anymore.
I also like the Olympics.

Karsyn (imzadi) Stephanie (R-A) wrote: "Warehouse 13! Right? I think us Warehouse fans should get together and hold a vigil. I loved that show so much! So sad when it got canceled."

I was so sad, and mad, too! SyFy just doesn't treat their shows properly. Have a popular fan base? Ok, cancel it!!

Hopefully you'll love the challenge I came up with, it's very much WH13 and is basically collecting everything ever mention/seen on the show. It'll be a while before I host it though. It's going to be very time consuming on my part and take quite a while to do. I already have another big challenge planned for later in the year so the WH13 one might have to wait..... we'll see.

I'm a Steelers fan true and true, but also a football fan in general, so love good players. Gonna miss Lynch's antics. I loved that guy and his interviews. I hate that they forced him to give them. I really like Sherman, I think he's one of few players who tell it as it really is and I respect that so much. I'm not a fan of Wilson. He's good but personality wise I just don't like him.

Jex (jexball) | 2227 comments 1: Are you a TV or Movie person?
I'm more of a TV person. Shows are longer, but shorter at the same time. I like being able to watch small chunks at a time.

2: What are some of your favorite current TV shows?
iZombie, Grey's Anatomy, Walking Dead, The Magicians, Shadow Hunters, 2 Broke Girls, Big Bang Theory, Castle

3: What are some of your favorite TV shows no longer on?
Anything by Whedon (Buffy, Angel, Dollhouse, etc.), Dead Like Me, House, How I Met Your Mother

4: What are some of your favorite movies?
Just about anything by Tim Burton or Pixar

5: Any (other) sports fans? :) What's your sport?
Not a big sports fan but I like watching the Olympics a lot. I used to do gymnastics and diving when I was younger so I like watching those.

message 13: by Jex (new)

Jex (jexball) | 2227 comments @Karsyn - I loved Warehouse 13! Totally forgot about it. I can never remember all the great shows out there. Also Eureka. Forgot that one too!

@Emily Oh Gilmore Girls! I just recently rewatched that entire series. I got my bf to watch about half of it with me, but he was going too slow so I finished without him :-P

@Stephanie (R-A) Woot Seattle! I've never been much of a sports fan but I had the privilege of working at Safeco field when I was younger. I was just a barista, but my stand had a perfect view of the field from club level :)

1: Are you a TV or Movie person?
I like both, but probably TV more. And by TV, I mean hulu/Netflix/Amazon prime. I like that stories can last longer (multiple seasons!) and I can also watch 30 minutes or an hour at a time and then go do something else, like read, rather than with a movie and I have to commit to a 2-3hour block of watching at a time.
2: What are some of your favorite current TV shows?
Grey's Anatomy, Bones, Chicago Med, Criminal Minds, Supernatural, Sleepy Hollow, Vampire Diaries, The 100, Once Upon a Time, Fresh off the Boat....I think that's about it....
3: What are some of your favorite TV shows no longer on?
Forever, HOUSE, Friends, Boy Meets World
4: What are some of your favorite movies?
Titanic, Inception, Interstellar, Sweet Home Alabama...
5: Any (other) sports fans? :) What's your sport?
Yes and no. I think baseball is probably my fave because I was brought up around it. I also like hockey. Anything else is fine but I don't really follow it.

Jen (reader44ever) | 2930 comments **TV & Movies**

1: Are you a TV or Movie person?

Neither, really. Back when I was a "TV or Movie Person" I was a Movie person. That was when I was still living in Seattle, though. I had cancelled my cable subscription in 2000 or 2001 and got terrible reception in my apartment, but I never missed anything on TV. I mostly watched DVDs of movies.

2: What are some of your favorite current TV shows?
I don't really have any favorites. From time to time, when my mother ropes me into watching something with her, I'll enjoy the British comedies/mysteries/dramas shown on PBS. . . .

3: What are some of your favorite TV shows no longer on?
I think all of the PBS shows I enjoy watching from time to time are from series that are no longer airing new episodes. So I guess mine would be Are You Being Served?; As Time Goes By; Keeping Up Appearances. Back when I did have cable in Seattle, I enjoyed Farscape, Firefly, and La Femme Nikita.

4: What are some of your favorite movies?
I don't really watch too many movies nowadays. But even so, I have a passionate love for the Disney Animated Classics and their collaborations with Pixar. My most-watched favorites are WALL-E, The Incredibles, A Bug's Life, and Aladdin, though I haven't seen any of them in several years.

I also love the Alien quartet of movies, the two Riddick movies, the Mummy movies, the Usual Suspects, the Fifth Element, and a few others. But it's been a few years since I've seen any of them, too.

My movie watching really fell off after I came to Arizona and joined Goodreads. Nowadays, instead of watching movies or television, I'm online doing Goodreads things (like answering Daily Questions for the Read-a-Thon, lol). Before joining Goodreads, I'd watch a movie pretty regularly when I wasn't reading. Since joining Goodreads, if I'm not reading, I'm probably on here.

5: Any (other) sports fans? :) What's your sport?
The one thing I do try to watch, even since joining Goodreads, is my Seahawks playing in the NFL. Go 'Hawks! :-) When they won the Super Bowl a couple of years ago, I was THRILLED. I saw every game of theirs that season that played on our Arizona networks, my Dad was alive, and we had some of his family come over for a Super Bowl Party. I was the only Seahawks fan, though. Everyone else was rooting for the Broncos that year. I was positively gleeful every time we did something right. Drove my uncles (Dad's brothers), especially, right up the wall. LOVED it! lol ;-) My aunt (Dad's sister) wasn't rooting for either team particularly, so she enjoyed my enthusiasm. :-) And I think Dad did, too. He wasn't able to talk anymore by that time, but he still knew who we all were and I know he would have been enthusiastic for me if he had been able to be. :-)

I used to be a rabid Olympics fan, too. I especially liked the Winter Olympics for the figure skating, speed skating, hockey-without-the-NHL-fights, skiing, luge . . . In Seattle in 2006, I went to Radio Shack for a pair of bunny ear antennae for my television. I still didn't get good reception, though. To see anything, I had to sit in this one particular spot and way on the floor to get reception. And even then, if it wasn't snowing in Torino, it was always "snowing" in Torino on my screen. lol ;-)

I also used to watch the Vancouver Canucks (NHL) when I could, at bars, at friends', and sometimes (rarely) at home (if I could get reception).

And of course, in addition to the Seattle Seahawks in the NFL, I also root for (but don't watch) the Seattle Mariners (MLB), the Seattle Sounders (MLS), the Seattle Storm (WNBA). I used to root for the Supersonics when they were Seattle's NBA team. I was real bummed when they left us.

TV. I don't have the patience to sit through an entire show or movie, so I'm much better off if I'm at home and can do other things at the same time.
2: What are some of your favorite current TV shows?
Dancing with the Stars, Quantico, Modern Family
3: What are some of your favorite TV shows no longer on?
I loved How I Met Your Mother! And re-runs of 90210 are the best, at least the early years.
4: What are some of your favorite movies?
I like horror movies - The Shining, Poltergeist, Insidious, Paranormal Activity
5: Any (other) sports fans? :) What's your sport?
College basketball. Go Duke!

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) | 6535 comments 1: Are you a TV or Movie person?

TV! I have to be in a certain mood to watch a movie but I love TV shows.

2: What are some of your favorite current TV shows?

Current favorites on the air (not in order) - Dance Moms, Supernatural, The Flash, Arrow, Bitten, Once upon a time, Grimm, Bate's Motel, The Walking Dead, Hell's Kitchen, Gotham, Chopped, Big Bang Theory

3: What are some of your favorite TV shows no longer on?

The Shield, Bewitched, Smallville, Carnivale, Without a trace, No Ordinary Family, That 70s show, Roseanne, Golden Girls, Seinfeld

4: What are some of your favorite movies?

I don't do favorites well, but a few of them - Braveheart, Terms of Endearment, Planes, trains and Automobiles, Man without a face, the original Nightmare on Elm Street, Inception, etc. There are many more but these come to mind.

5: Any (other) sports fans? :) What's your sport?

No, I don't like sports entertainment.

I’d have to say more of a TV person. I like the 45 minute segments, as opposed to something that takes 2 hours.
2: What are some of your favorite current TV shows?
We don’t have cable of any kind at our house, so we rely on netflix and other services mostly. So, I think these are current? Doctor Who, Once Upon a Time, Castle, the netflix exclusive Daredevil, Archer, Fairy Tail, Sword art Online
3: What are some of your favorite TV shows no longer on?
Stargate SG1, Moonlight, Kyle XY, Touched by an Angel, Death Note, The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmit, Breaking Bad
4: What are some of your favorite movies?
This is hard…the Lord of the Rings movies, most Disney (favorites of favorites being The Lion King, Pocahontas, Mulan, The Little Mermaid,) Law Abiding Citizen (though the ending was not my thing,) A Beautiful Mind, The Green Mile, some comedy cop movies (Heat, The Other Guys)
5: Any (other) sports fans? :) What's your sport?
I don’t watch sports very often. My dad’s a mostly Chicago team fan (cubs, bears, blackhawks,) so I sort of follow those teams. I learned a lot about football when I lived in Louisiana, so I’m also somewhat of a Saints fan. I’d almost rather be playing sports than watching them.

I don't think I watch any of the current shows religiously. Maybe A Game of Thrones?

3: What are some of your favorite TV shows no longer on?
I loved Battlestar Galactica and SG-1. 20 years ago I really enjoyed Star Trek: The Next Generation. I was a Picard gal. ;)

4: What are some of your favorite movies?
Gone With the Wind, Gladiator, Amadeus, LOTR trilogy, X-men, X-men: First Class

Definitely movie, although there are some shows that I enjoy.

2: What are some of your favorite current TV shows?
I don't know about current, but I'm currently watching Gilmore Girls and really enjoying that. I also enjoy watching Big Bang Theory, The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones (does that count for TV?), and Archer. I have to admit that I watch most of these on Netflix, so it's not truly TV.

3: What are some of your favorite TV shows no longer on?
Futurama, Boy Meets World, Friends (also watched on Netflix XD)

4: What are some of your favorite movies?
Gah! I'll try not to be too long... BBC's version of Pride and Prejudice and Jane Eyre (2006, the other ones just don't compare with this one), It's a Wonderful Life, Ben Hur, Corpse Bride, The Nightmare Before Christmas, The Illusionist, Rear Window, Rope, The Others, 10 Things I Hate About You, the Princess Bride, etc. :)

5: Any (other) sports fans? :) What's your sport?
I don't play sports, but I do enjoy watching some of them. The one that I can really get into is baseball. I know most people think it's the most boring sport, but my brother was a picture for his entire childhood, so I knew the tension and all the little decisions made in a game.

I also think roller derby is really cool. My friend introduced me to it a few years ago and it's pretty interesting to watch. I recommend checking it out :)
