R13: Team #17 ~ Not So Grim Reading Reapers

Review:
Interesting take on the paranormal world. Gideon has the ability to speak to the dead but doesn't know this until later in life when he gets himself all caught up in a super secret cult out to kill all others. I liked the story and especially enjoyed Gideon. He was snarky and cranky. The other characters (I can't spell their names) were fun as well. I will read the others in the series if Kindle Unlimited has them.

Week #10~ Paranormal Suspense

Grave Sight
My Rating: ★★★★
Date Completed: 5/26
Final Thoughts:
Great book! I kind of figured out the motive behind the murders pretty early on. Since so much emphasis was placed upon who the biological father of the dead girl was. What I couldn't pinpoint was who the actual murderer was.
Another aspect of the book was the very close borderline incestuous relationship Harper had with her step-brother, Tolliver. She is extremely dependent on him not only professionally but for emotional stability. Harper has some extreme anxiety issues that only Tolliver can keep grounded. You can feel the sexual tension between these two and I would not be surprised if they actually hook up later on in the series. No they are not blood related but she refers to him as her brother through the entire book. This does not bother me as it would others. I've read (and enjoyed) every taboo subject you could imagine. So some step sibling lovin wouldn't bother me at all. I'd totally ship these two.

I think that might be the shortest shelf we've looked at
However, I'm thrilled to get to read this (found on the 2nd page):

review: I love this series and the characters. Gin is unwavering loyal to her friends and family and will do anything in her power to protect them. This time around it is more personal than normal as Finn's long thought dead mother shows up in town.

I finished and am going to go request our Series to Start stamp!

Book: Firelight

Rating: 4 stars
Review:
I enjoyed Firelight. What an interesting read. It was like Beauty and the Beast meets Phantom of the Opera meets Penny Dreadful meets good old-fashioned historical romance.
I loved the heroine. She is definitely a favorite. She is strong without being shrewish, smart, even headed, and all around a great person. I also enjoyed the hero though his mystery started getting on my nerves after a while.
The reason why this is four stars for me is because I feel like it started REALLY strong and then it lulled in the middle - I became really confused about who the secondary characters were at one point - and then it got better toward the end. All of the confusing things were explained but in the moment it got annoying. Otherwise a very enjoyable read and I definitely want to continue this series!
