John Seymour I will come back and confirm no changes if no one else votes by the deadline or will update.

Popular Vote Winner - The Holder of the World

Weighted Vote Winner - The Bluest Eye

Random Selection - Love in a Cold Climate

So what are your plans for April? Will you be reading one of our BOTMs? Burning leaves? (I used to love that as a kid.) Or working on the Stone? Are you leaving room for the April Monthly Calendar book?

Confirmed: No additional votes, so these results are final.

I will go for The blues Eye as that one is on the shelf but I ordered the other two just in case.

Our next seasonal read starts in April, House of Leaves, will you be reading that one?

Yea I was able to get results before I set sail. Thank you John. I plan to read Bluest Eye my first Toni Morrison and Cold Climate. Will wait and see our challenge month selection.

I've already read Love in a Cold Climate, so I will get to the other two towards the end of April. In the meantime, I'll be going through Solaris, the second tome of the Stone and the House of Leaves. I am dreading to know the next installment of the Calendar Challenge, which, if I am correct, might force me into a re-read.

Tracy (tstan) | 559 comments I've read Love in a Cold Climate and Bluest Eye, and both are very good. Looking forward to Holder of the World, and House of Leaves. Also should get started on the yearly read one of these days...

Nope, I was thinking about it and picked up a copy in a book store, after flipping through it I put it down. I should probably put it on my never read list.

Sushicat | 292 comments The Bluest Eyes sits on the shelf - so that's the one I'll start with.

I didn't vote this month because I wasn't sure I would be able to get to anything. I do love Toni Morrison so I might try to read that if I get back on track. Then I need to finish the older BOTMS.

I voted for House of Leaves and I bought a copy so I will also try to start that. I haven't even started the annual read. I am so far behind.

Amanda Carter | 35 comments My mom has The Bluest Eye from decades ago and it now sits on my shelf, perfect excuse to read it in April! I haven't read the other two and I most definitely will read all three. Just started A Fine Balance today. The beginning of Cloud Atlas was making me cross my eyes so I am going to read that after Fine Balance with the help of cheat sheets and references and google and maybe watch the movie .... it was not making sense to me.... I want to read House of Leaves too!

message 12: by Zombie (new)

Zombie Kitten (monsterkids) | 43 comments I'll read The Holder of the World. I've read the other two already.

message 13: by Becky (new)

Becky I have Bluest Eye on my shelf so that's a definite. I'm going to try for Holder of the World if I have time.

Why is that, John? I haven't read it, but it sounds creepy.

Judith (jloucks) | 95 comments I'll read The Holder of the World, but that's it for April. I've read the other two and enjoyed them. Also, it's gardening season here in Phoenix; and I find I'm, as usual, reading a good deal less.

Does anyone have an ebook of The Holder of the World my library service as usual is being useless and this is the only one I haven't read this month.

Have started House of Leaves it is different...

message 17: by Pip (new)

Pip | 1822 comments I plan to read them all. Bluest Eye is on my Kindle, Cold Comfort is in the library but I have had to order The Holder of the World from Amazon. I will start House of Leaves, which I have bought, as soon as the interminable Cloudsplitter is out of the way. Very busy with Dragonboating so will have to catch up once I return from Adelaide and the World Club Crew Championships. I am in a team in the over 60 women's age group! Hope to finish re-reading The Radetzky March over Easter too. And then there is Cloud Atlas which has to be returned to the library soon!

message 20: by Gina (new)

Gina Andrews | 58 comments Good Luck Pip! This month the only book from 1001 I will read is The Bluest Eye. I have picked another challenge, that is to read books from a list of 1950s science fiction, which I love. After I have finished that list, I shall jump in my time machine and come back to this day to read all the April selections.

How many are on this list of 1950s science fiction. I am reading npr top 100 science fiction fantasy but I don't have a deadline.

The theme is creepy, which is not something I enjoy, but the biggest issue is that the book is constructed as if it is a schizophrenic's packet of papers with notes all jumbled together - different size and shaped pages, different colored inks, text running every which way, all of which is supposed to convey meaning.

Right. Just not interested. I have so much else I want to read, and am so far behind on my reading.

There are about 123 books on the list. The website I got the list from also has lists for the 60's, 70's, 80's, and 90's, along with award lists. There is some overlap with 1001, like with Isaac Asimov's Foundation and I, Robot.
