I'm trying to remember a book I read eons ago - over 10 years - it was an old book then so published at least early 90s.

The h was a ballerina/dancer she gets injured on stage and I believe because of this and a broken leg she runs away recovers but gets stage fright or is in fear - so she hides from everyone - I think her name is julia

H is her agent/accountant and has been in love with her in the shadows - he finds her and tries to help her get back on stage - at first he thinks it's because she hasn't healed well but he sees her practice/walking etc

I think the injury on stage was one of many during the production or it wasn't an accident.

It was a thick book, I think and grey silhouette special edition style cover

Other things I remember:
She doesn't really pay him attention before she has this fall/push off the stage. I think she had a relationship (not necessarily sexual with someone else) because he does seem reluctant to approach her before this. She definitely notices him though but is wary but friendly. He of course was biding his time.

He I remember seemed quite bookish which is why I'm thinking accountant /business manager. And he may have been with her for a couple of years prior.

He's definitely pushing her to have the courage to go back
