These kinds of endings is the reason why I try my best to stay away from a series until just before the final installment is released. However, assuming this one would include Tessa and Jem because of Emma, I just couldn't wait!
The ending was so familiar, so familiar that it made me miss Will and Tessa. Like from the moment Emma spoke to Jem and Tessa about forbidden love, the ending was sort of guaranteed, like at the moment we couldn't think of anything because of our anguish over the mention of the forbidden love from TID, that we weren't able to readjust, concentrate and prepare for the inevitable. But I'm so excited to see how this 'curse' is overcome, and how Julian and Emma end up together.
Same here! They cannot *not* end up together, but I'm so curious about the path to get there. It did feel so familiar and I was so happy Emma had those few moments with Jem, even if to deliver kinda bad news. I don't know though, Jem's pretty good at picking up things. I think he would've picked up the Julian/Emma vibe when they met in the Dark War. I feel like this was just a warning thing.
Oh yes!! I 100% agree,I would have thought that both Tessa and Jem would have noticed, and I think they did, which is why they spoke about forbidden love in the first place and identified where Em was coming from and what her perspective on it was. Any bets Jem and Tess will be their to help her find out and look into the parabatai bond/Forbidden love thing, and I cant wait for more bonding sessions between Jem and Em :)
I think that Jem is going to fix this one for Emma because both he and Tessa know what forbidden love is.

I think so too, on both points--that Tessa and Jem *did* pick up on it and that Jem and Tessa will figure/fix this for them.
At this point, we know very little of the effects romantic love has on the parabatai bond save the law to *not* fall in love. Which I think is a bit extreme because you simply can't say "Don't fall in." You know? I mean, you love what you love and I don't think simply knowing its a law will make you not love something. If the law was "you are forbidden to be a Shadow Hunter" you simply can't stop being a Shadow Hunter.
Which lead me to think about what Malcom said, "There is nothing more important than love. And no law higher." I mean, I know we didn't understand his nature at the time, but I can't help but think this ties into Julian and Emma somehow. And Will was able to marry Tessa, even though she was part Downworlder. So ... there has to be a loop hole somewhere or knowledge the Shadow Hunters don't quite know or understand somewhere.
After reading lady Midnight for the second time, that quote "There is nothing more important than love. And no law higher." struck me as important, not only for Malcolm but as you said, for Emma and julian also. Love is something you cant help and will always be there if only a slither, so in Emma and julians case, will they ever be able to diminish the love they have for each other by distancing themselves. Will the runes they draw on each other have the same effect as it did when julian got hurt, as the love is requited, will it still effect them in the way that it is forbidden?Therefore will they be able to overcome the 'curse' of loving your parabatai? Whatever Cassie does with this, she would have to go to great lengths as you simply can't make someone stop loving you, as she so clearly stated, in similar circumstances between Tessa and Will.
So, I interpreted "Why lie?" as this: Mark is asking Emma why she wants to lie about being in a relationship when they could actually be in a real relationship, actually emotionally in love with each other and stuff. He's offering Emma this proposal, because he's interested in her, along with Cristina because he's being typical faerie Mark (I ship Marktina, sorry). I don't think he knows why it has to be HIM and not anyone else, because Emma thinks that will hurt Julian the most, his own brother with his lover. Pretty twisted.

Obviously Emma doesn't want to be in a real relationship with Mark, because she's in love with Julian. But she wants a fake relationship with Mark so that Julian will lose interest in her. How this is going to happen, I have no idea.
I really hope Mark doesn't get romantically involved with Emma... I don't think I can handle it...
Oh and this reminds me of when Tessa broke things off with Will by pretending to not love him, because she was engaged to Jem. I completely agree that Jem and Tessa probably know Emma's predicament with Julian, and that's why Tessa advised Emma.

Anyways, that's my opinion on it. Seriously though, please please please don't get romantically involved with Mark, Emma. It is a BIG mistake you're making. The Tessa/Will thing was already killing me...
