When we are taught that safety lies always with sameness, then difference, of any kind, will appear as a threat. When we choose to love we choose to move against fear- against alienation and separation. The choice to love is a choice to connect- to find ourselves in the other."
I think this is blatantly clear in our (United States) current political opponents.
Most of them time as I read I feel she is talking down to her audience or maybe just me. I don't feel the parent was a bad mom for not giving her child an allowance. I don't feel that I can't know true love because I'm an atheist. I agree with some of her ideas, but they aren't new or original to her.
I was so excited to open this book, and so far I'm left disappointed. I want to finish it because maybe she will win me over, and yet reading it seems like I'm being lectured for not being knowledgeable in her ideas of pure love.
