Hm, very interesting. Hope someone can solve this.This is not your book, but while you're waiting you might enjoy Breed to Come by Andre Norton. It has cat people.

I read this series a few years ago and I'd like to read it again, but I can't remember any of the titles or the author. It was about a group of people whose ship crash lands on an alien planet. The planet was previously occupied by a hostile alien race and then abandoned due to the super aggressive native species. The humans move into an abandoned base for safety after being attacked by a bunch of bat-like creatures. They later on discover another species on the planet that is very cat-like. At some point, they decide to genetically modified their children using the alien cat DNA....I think to have people who could fight the alien race that had previously occupied the planet. That race has a history of absorbing the best genetic traits of any species they encounter, and then completely obliterating that species. The genetically modified kids go on to seek out and fight the bad aliens, after somehow obtaining a functioning space ship. I think the aliens send a scout back to the planet to check it out, and the humans snag their ship. The kids are able to bond telepathically with the alien cats due to now sharing some genes. There's a bunch of other stuff too, but the one scene I remember best is at the beginning of the first book....one of the main female characters meets one of the main male characters for the first time. The guy is some sort of breeding stud, and he wears a skintight suit with color patches that highlight his genitals...I think as an advertisement of his goods or something? Anyway, I hope someone here can help me find this series again!
