I really liked Promise of Blood and thought the setting was refreshing and probably the beginning of a popular subgenre.
Let's see. So far I've read:Lazarus, Vol. 1: Family (Loved it)
The Martian (SUPER loved it)
By the Silver Water of Lake Champlain (A great short story by Joe Hill)
And today I finished You Will Hear the Locust Sing (A not-so-great story from Joe Hill) Next up is Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
Finished Dragons of Winter Night (Dragonlance: Chronicles #2) and am starting yes, you guessed, it, Dragons of Spring Dawning.
Finished of the Powder Mage short stories with The Face in the WindowMy review
I hadn't realized this came packaged with another short Atonement which wasn't a bad read either.
The Princess Bride: S. Morgenstern's Classic Tale of True Love and High AdventureThe Martian
Don't Know Much About Mythology: Everything You Need to Know About the Greatest Stories in Human History but Never Learned

So the rest aren't any better?

I don't know yet, I reserved Gathering Blue on the library and I am waiting for it. Is not that I didn't like the first one, but there were parts that were very hard for me to read and a younger me would've easily said: Nope, not gonna finish. An older me (a.k.a me now) I want to know what else did Lowry wanted to show in her world, so we will see. Did you liked it finally?
Finished this month's pick The Martian on AudibleMy review
Starting Brian McClellan's new book on Audible The Crimson Campaign

Good choice. :-P
Good choice. :-P
I finished listening to Angelmaker by Nick Harkaway. Very weird, but fun. I'm now starting Glasshouse by Charles Stross. I really need to cut down that audiobook backlog.

I did his first book on Audible and enjoyed that.
I did the eBook, which I guess is why I'm doing the eBook again. Very unusual for me.
Whose the audio reader?
Whose the audio reader?

Christian Rodska. I think he has a great voice for Tamas in particular.
I'm reading my new copy ofCity of Golden Shadow and need to go pick up Daughter of the Forest at the library this weekend.I also have about 5 more hours of The Lies of Locke Lamora to listen to on Audible.
Tonight I read Crazy Love by Leslie What, which is a book of short stories including the story that won the Nebula in 1999 - "The Cost of Doing Business." I just came across it randomly on the shelf when finding other books, and it followed me home. I was surprised I'd never heard of the author.

I liked The Gone-Away World better. This was good, but not as good. Maybe it was just because the narrator was better.
Oh, and when I looked to make sure it was a different narrator, I saw that Harkaway has a new audiobook being released on the 22nd. Tigerman
I just started River of Shadows, an interesting history of technology book about an early photographer.
Just finished Jaufrey the Knight and the Fair Brunissende. Good King Arthur cycle tale. Knights, fair damsels in distress, and oaths. Things just happen, no set-up or explanations. Maybe like real-life. The language fit the story well. My only complaint was that at less than 100 pages it was just too short.
I'm about to start Khaled, a tale of Arabia. Author is new to me and I've not heard anything about the story, so no preconceptions.

Unfortunately my tbr pile has grown into a tbr room. It's a good thing I never had kids or they would be surrounded!

Finished listening to Daemon which I really liked even though the ending, well..... But still enjoyed it enough where I picked up Freedom™ to listen to. Still taking my time with Sword & Laser Anthology though I've been sucked into the Marvel Unlimited app and catching up on a bunch of old comics
I just finished off 3 books in different mediums to concentrate on The Martian and A Dance of Cloaks.
I'm finally caught up on my reviews! We'll see how long that lasts.
First I finished my Codex Alera audio reread with First Lord's Fury. I enjoyed it more on the reread than I did the first time. (My Review)
Then I listened to The Martian and really enjoyed that. (My Review)
Finally I listened to Off to Be the Wizard that I picked up largely because Luke Daniels was the narrator, and ending up really enjoying that as well. (My Review).
Right now I'm reading The Crimson Campaign and just started listening to Revelation Space.

Well if I end up liking the book, maybe I'll write a review that's good enough to submit. Of course they seem to have stopped posting reviews. I blame China.

She did. Thats what I meant.

Haha. It's the only one I bought from that sale.

Based on the comments made here about Revelations Space being book 1 of a trilogy, I bought Terminal World in the the Audible sale instead:)And I thought the saying was "Only Nixon could go to China".
Tamahome wrote: "Oh, I thought it was a vague anti-China joke."
Nah. I just assume she's been busy getting ready.

Tamahome wrote: "Oh, I thought it was a vague anti-China joke."No one's foolish enough to make anti-China jokes. He'll beat us up if we do.
AndrewP wrote: "Based on the comments made here about Revelations Space being book 1 of a trilogy, I bought Terminal World in the the Audible sale instead:)"Terminal World is one of my favourite Reynolds - even though it's very different to any of his other books.
Tamahome wins.I am reading The Man in the High Castle. I will likely submit this review because I got the book from Tom as my kickstarter reward. I like it quite a bit so far.
I finally finished Great North Road. Tell me something -- If it's a good book, shouldn't I feel a little sad when I'm done that there's no more to read, rather than a sense of relief and accomplishment that I'm finally through it?Now reading Moth and Spark because I saw it in the poll and then in my library on the same day.
Alan wrote: "I finally finished Great North Road. Tell me something -- If it's a good book, shouldn't I feel a little sad when I'm done that there's no more to read, rather than a sense of relief and accomplish..."That's been my experience of Hamilton - I still want to go back for more though
I finished listening to Glasshouse by Charles Stross this morning. It reminds me of all the things I love about science fiction. I had a rough start with it. In fact, this was my 3rd attempt to listen to it. Once I got past the first couple of chapter though, I was wowed. I'm now listening to Black Sun Rising by C.S. Friedman. I read each book in the series when they first came out. This first one was published in 1991! I can't believe it's been that long. It's narrated by R.C. Bray. Those of you who listened to The Martian will know who he is.
Finsihed Robin Hobb's second book in her Soldier Son Trilogy Forest MageMy review
Starting The Obsidian Heart which is Mark T Barnes second book in his Echoes of Empire series

In an attempt to turn this around I am going to read a couple books that are outside my normal choices. I was finally able to get a reserve copy of The Martian from my library (also the first club pick I'll get a chance to read with the group). And, Promise of Blood, which I was initially uninterested in because of the 'flintlock' setting. It feels weird to have guns in a fantasy setting.
