She brought a live mouse on and we spent 3 days trying to catch the poor thing. We finally caught it in a large cast-iron pan and took it outside.
She is not aloud outside when the squirrels are down the trees eating their nuts (which I give them). Yes, I am a crazy animal person.
Janet wrote: "I came home on half-day leave because I didn't sleep well last night. How reading."Try melatonin or take a magnesium supplement powder. You would be surprised at the effects of low magnesium on the body and your sleep habits.
I take this
I was resistant to the Kindle myself until I got one, lol. I'm a kindle convert now, lol. I read constantly and never go out without something to read. In the old days that frequently involved oversized purses and extra luggage on trips. I read in bed and sometimes fall asleep while reading. Being smacked in the face by a hardback Stephen King is an experience I don't miss! I just fell in love with the convenience. I can (and do) take around 1000 books everywhere in a small device that allows me to adjust font size and is backlit so I can read in any light. I still prefer paper for complex works where I will want to take notes in the margins and flip back and forth between sections but otherwise I read everything on my kindle.
Janet, are you still looking for someone to read Coptown? I would read it. What kinds of questions does the publisher want?
Janet wrote: "It's a sunny day with moderate temperatures at 15C (59F). Just about to head over to the supermarket for my weekly shopping."Lucky you. You can keep yours to once a week. I usually go 3-4 times a week because I almost always forget something. Even when I have a list.
Read a little when I got up and when out to grab some dinner. A lot of places are closed today. Sometimes you need a day to do nothing Jamie Lynn. I do that to.
The products gives everyone the trots so I don't think they will be selling it again. Also the the joke reviews probably raised a red flag. And on that note, goodnight until tomorrow.
:-)
The trots refers to moving quickly to the bathroom (trotting) because you gotta go often cuz your stomach is highly unsettled.
Is anybody else wondering how we're going to read a book starting 06/02/14 that is not released until 06/24/14?? I love Karin Slaughter but her book "Cop Town" is not out until the end of the month.

Wow the congress comments alone! LOLOL!"
That was one of my favs too. I've bookmarked it for when I need a laugh.
Janet wrote: "Oh really? I haven't noticed. I'd better chuck the rest of the packet of Haribo sweets when I get back to work."I can't remember what the ingredient but there are some fake sugars/fats that in large quantities cause gastric distress. A diet potato chip came out some time ago that warned against eating large quantities because of this effect.

Thx appreciate the update.
In December, 2012 I joined this group when it was just beginning. I drop in now and then these days, but I don't seem to see many of the first 100 or so people who joined in that time frame (Dec 2012 - June 2013). This was my absolutely favourite group and it seems to me there was fun woman from England, a grammarian of excellent talent, and some other delightful types. The group is very large now, but I wanted to reconnect slowly. Are any of the originals still around?
Who remembers IM? NPR wants to know what your most mortifying screen name was! http://www.npr.org/2014/10/13/3559040...
I have a comment and a question! I use the site www.whatshouldireadnext.com to compare books that I really enjoy. It's a nice site, which gives brief synopses' of the list of similar books to the one you entered in the search engine. However, I entered "Gone Girl", and the books it generated as similar,....I've read most of them! The problem is that the list is not, exactly, "similar to". Many times, I am disappointed after using the site, that the suggested read is not as good, or similar to the book I used as a search suggestion.
Does anybody have any suggestions for a surprising thriller? I hate it when I can guess the endings. :). Thanks.
Ian Fleming's Thrilling Cities, which I was listening to this afternoon via my BBC Radio app, gives the thriller writer's eye on several world cities, and is listenable to at this link. Thought to share it with any others who are still partial to a little of the the man who is 'shaken but never stirred' :)http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b04lx...

So sad to hear Tom Magliozzi, one half of the wisecracking Car Talk duo known as "Click and Clack the Tappet Brothers," has died after complications from Alzheimer's Disease. He was 77.http://www.npr.org/blogs/thetwo-way/2...
He and his brother have given me many a laugh, while teaching me something. I will miss him.
I don't know if anyone is interested in Australian YA, but if you want a good laugh... just read the reviews: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/7...
Gotta love the weather around here! All last week it was in the low 20s, then overnight Sat/Sun we had snow and it warmed up to over freezing. Yesterday, I woke up to massive gusting winds and 54F degrees and no snow. This morning it's back down to the mid-30s!
Kevin wrote: "Has anyone read or is reading the Monogram Mrders, a new Poirot story?"I gave it to my mother this Christms, she has just finished it. I asked her thoughts before I read it, she said it's good, not as cleverly put together and without that Agatha Christie flourish but a good read.

Has anyone ever read Mauriac's Therese Desqeroux? I studied it for French A level and found it riveting, and thoroughly engrossing.
Hi All.A friend of mine suggested I read one of Tami Haog's novels and slapped 'Ashes to Ashes' in front of my face. Is this a good one of hers to start with? If not, what would you suggest?
Thanks
Paul
Mark has given my novel, A Light Not of This World, a sensational review. I hope you will look at it. However, I have discovered a problem with its Amazon listing. The Amazon listing you are likely to be taken to is the listing of the original edition, which no longer is available from Amazon. The correct listing for Amazon is http://www.amazon.com/Light-Not-This-...It also is available from Barnes & Noble at a slightly lower price, http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/a-lig...

LOL!! That surprised you? Seems like she is the perfect age to read this series My sister bought paperback at Target and I refused to though the line when she bought them.
Dornan is cute. I think he did it just for the exposure. I see pictures of him with fans of the book and he looks miserable.
Lily Allen is coming to the US!!! Yes.
