SOLVED. Youth sci fi chapter book about dreams [s]

I've been trying to remember the name of a book I read a while go and thought I give this a shot.
WHEN you read the book. I read this book when I was in elementary school so it was the early 2000s. Not too long ago.
What reading level it is aimed at: this was a middle school level but on the upper end. Could be considered YA.
What the story is about: there was a middle/high school aged boy (14ish) who woke up one day and found a small alien like creature in his room. The alien creature was sent to create his dream. Each person had an alien creature that front roll their dreams. The alien creatures were in a battle between good and evil. And the aliens were trying to stop the bad aliens from creating nightmares. Anyway the boy comes to find out that there is this land that all dreams are controlled from. He gets to travel there and learn how the dreams work. They were training him to help fight the controller of the nightmares. I know the book is part of a series so there really was no solid conclusion. I do believe the creatures were called something like the Sparks.
What the genre is: totally a sci fi
What format is the book in: it was a book I borrowed from the library

I do remember the title was kind of long. It had like two parts. Like something: the life of something.

A shot in the dark because the description is brief - In Your Dreams by D.F. Rider?

I don't think that was it. But it's along the same lines as that one

So I went to a different library in town today and was getting lost in the shelves as I normally do and I found the book. It was like a miracle.

Anyway the book is called The Glitch in Sleep Very good read.

I grabbed the book and the sequel to get started on summer reading.
