Adding characters to my own book?

I've added my first book and just became a Goodreads author a few days ago. I'm trying to add the characters to my book but it just brings me back to my home screen recent updates. Am I doing something wrong?

Authors do not have ability to add characters. If you provide details, we can add them :)
