lauren ♡ (laurenkara) Hi I'm Lauren! I am a brand new, active book blogger. I will be posting daily and am looking to improve and grow my blog. I primarily focus on Young Adult books (my favourite genres are: horror, sci-fi, paranormal, dystopian & fantasy), but occasionally read and review Adult books and Comics/Graphic Novels. I post lists/memes and photos of my books and bookshelves. I plan on (hopefully) hosting some small giveaways in the near future. My reviews tend to focus on how the book made me feel rather than on super technical aspects. I'm always seeking out ARCs and books to review.

This is such a good question, and wondered about it myself. Lauren, I love your wordpress site and I'm interested in what inspires you to choose a book for review. I noticed that you love horror, and I am inclined to think that this, together with vampires and dystopia figure quite highly on the YA wishlist? Possibly this would exclude my own and Susan's books from your reviews?

I haven't read as much fantasy as I have other genres, but when I do I love when they have great world building. I love being able to feel like I'm actually in this world along with the characters.

Thank you! And as a new reviewer my policies aren't as strict as others. I will pretty much read any Young Adult book. Horror/Sci-Fi/Dystopia are my preferred genres though. Vampires aren't a requirement (for me), I just love books that have an element of mystery to them whether that be realistic or paranormal. I love when books have twists and turns because it keeps my attention. The only thing I'm not a huge fan of is pure romance with no other genres mixed in.

So as long as a book has an element of any of the above things I'll definitely check it out :) If I start reading a book and it doesn't pique my interest I will still promote it on my blog because everyone has different tastes and just because I didn't like it doesn't mean others won't.
