So here's my question: Do you have any short stories right now that you aren't planning on publishing?

See, I am releasing a short story on March 30 that's a sort of tag-along to my novella, and I would be glad to include one of your stories in the back. The same offer applies for anything I publish. While I can't offer you any royalties, there are a few benefits to you.

1) Your name will get more exposure. Now, I'm certain that you sell books than me, but I believe this novella and the short story will do fairly well. I'd love to include a bio of you along with the story, and thereby send customers to your books on Wattpad and on Amazon

2) Your story will get read. Sometimes, authors add these stories in and they never get seen, because the readers overlook them for the main substance of the piece. Since this is only a short story and people will pay 99 cents for it, they'll gladly read the stories at the back (I might have another author submit one), since that's more substance for their money.

3) It's good for both of us!! The monetary value aside, this would be a great way for us to each promote our separate works. My short story would be read by the people who buy My Abigail, but if you wanted to make yours a prequel or teaser for one of your other books, that'd be great, too. Bait for them to bite.

4) You have no limits. Your story can be as long as you want, as short as you want- it doesn't matter to me.

I'd be thrilled to include your story :) Get back to me if you're interested for right now, or anytime in the future. Just email me at davidkummer7@gmail.com.

Casey Lehman | 29 comments Truthfully, my unpublished short story is a contemporary anthro-romance, and it wouldn't go along well with a Thriller.

David Kummer | 115 comments That's alright. My Thriller has a love story in it, too. I'll keep you in mind if I ever write something more in that genre, and if you ever write something scary/mysterious let me know. If you want, I could take a look at your story anyways. It might fit better than you think.

Ju Ephraime (juephraime) | 96 comments Who has stories that they aren't planning on publishing? This entire thing is silly. Don't you care if the story is done professionally, or are you assuming someone will give you his/her professionally edited story that is conveniently sitting in a desk waiting for you to buff up yours. Write your book with what you have or don't write it. :)

David Kummer | 115 comments Lol I am going to write it of course. It's just an add-on to something I've already written. I just know some people have always wanted to have something published, and I've seen some interest from a few author's who had a story published in e-zines that folded or something like that. Just trying to give people a chance if they're interested.
Anyways, take care :)

Fair enough, but I think what he's proposing is a collaboration. Basically, he does all the work of compiling and publishing a book of thriller-esque short stories (not to mention advertising through social media etc), and contributing authors get the benefit of free exposure. I don't think he's trying to buff up his writing with that of other people; I think he's just trying to attract more readers (while helping other authors do the same) than his stand-alone story might otherwise by itself. Thus, a collaborative venture for mutual benefit, not unlike a great deal of short story collections / anthologies out there.

:-)

In truth, I was beating around the bush and not going there until someone else did. ^^;

David Kummer | 115 comments Yeah, Gaines basically said it. Actually, he said it better than I did lol.

And Casey: I have two authors already who are going to add something in to the short story I was talking about above. One of them I met on Google Hangouts and she's published some kid's stories, but wrote a few horror stories and wanted to put them with mine. I guess she writes vast, lol. And the other one was the #1 Horror Author on Wattpad a few weeks ago, so I'm thrilled to have him on board.

If you want more information or have any questions, feel free to email me or talk on here :) And if you decide against then, that's alright, too. I wish you the very best.

Eh, if this does well I'll think of jumping on board, but my writing is in the "furry" genre. I grew up watching Homeward Bound, Rescue Rangers, Swat Kats, The Angry Beavers, Steet Sharks and such, so do you really expect a creative autistic guy like me not to do that when there are so many design choices and interesting worlds to create with that category?

David Kummer | 115 comments I definitely see where you're coming from. And I agree there are many creative things you can do with that category. I wish you the best of luck in all your writings :) Thanks for responding and checking in.

Eh, it's cool.

Justin (justinbienvenue) | 2274 comments So your looking for short stories from people got add to the back of your book? I got confused when you agreed with someone that it's like an anthology.

I am interested as I have several short stories collecting digital dust in my computer files. Does it have to be a thriller or similar type genre as your book and story?

message 14: by David (new)

David Kummer | 115 comments I'm adding it to the back of my own short story. So it's like an anthology except my story is an add-on to my novella, and it'll be titled after my short story (pros of being the author, I guess).
I'd be thrilled to include anything you have. Just email me at davidkummer7@gmail.com and I'll read it and see if it fits. I'm sure I can make it work. I mean, one guy submitted a sci-fi story and we made that work. All I need is the story and then a short bio with any links you want. I'd be very glad to include you Justin :)
