I just hope AMC doesn't mess too much with it, but that's probably a lot to ask.

If it's done well, I certainly do. If it's done poorly, I'll probably give it 2 or 3 episodes.

I do. I love the book and I think it lends itself well to a visual medium, a TV adaptation of it can be great. If the special effects are properly done the monster could be terrifying.

Well, what do you mean "mess with it?" Do you think AMC messed with "The Walking Dead?" There are major differences between the original comic series and the TV show, but the TV show is fantastic. Any adaptation is just that--an adaptation. Preserving details of the original isn't the same, nor is it as important as, getting it right. For example, the "Constantine" series preserved the detail that John was in a punk band called Mucous Membrane, but they stripped away the punk attitude that was so essential to Hellblazer.

I don't mean make changes from the source media, I have nothing against that when it's done well, and sometimes you can't avoid it. Also it keeps people familiar with the source material guessing.
I mean they have a habit of meddling with the creative side of the shows, firing showrunners who don't agree with them, and playing hardball during negotiations.
And yes, I do think they messed with The walking dead: they went through 3 showrunners in 4 seasons. That's actually a great example of the point I made above. That's also, I think, part of why the show is so inconsistent.

No, 10 episodes, an 10-hour long each.
