Group Series Read #1 - Jane Yellowrock Series

Ohhh Anne Rice lol. I do like her books but the details just keep coming.
I thought this one wasn't as action packed but I liked it a bit better. I felt like I got to know the characters a bit more. Can we post spoilers yet?

So far, it seems like it's a better book than the first, at least from reading everyone's thoughts.

Hate Rick
But find some things repetitive"
I am not in love with Rick either. I am hoping he comes up with some endearing qualities in the future books but so far I haven't been impressed.

I think number three is the best one yet. The action comes in early. We get more understanding of characters and the new character introduced is interesting.

We meet Nell in a short story Off the Grid

Some may have lost the book. Some I suppose may have died and their relatives had no idea the book needed to be returned. Some may have wanted to own the book for their own and maliciously refuse to return it.
So there are reasons, but after 6 months overdue, why keep it showing in the catalog? Highly frustrating for the patrons if you're waiting on a book (and it doesn't show the due date so you don't realize the book is 9 months overdue).

I am going to think about this but overall I just get a strange vibe from him. And I really hate him in the 3rd book but won't go into reasons yet.

Excellent question Annie! I'd love to hear the answers too! So lets have it everyone!
WHY DON'T YOU LIKE RICK?

So far, I'm still reading the 2nd book (after getting super behind with a Library book)... I don't hate Rick... yet.
He honestly hasn't done anything too nefarious yet, so while I don't want her to have a "relationship" with him, and I think he's probably just a pain in the butt in general, I'm not at the "super dislike" point.
This may obviously change as I read further.

She's fairly confident that Rick is undercover with feline-weres. Rick was at breakfast with a female unknown to Jane. She's so worried he's cheating on her, she's not seeing the obvious that he's likely breakfasting with a feline-were! Of course she hasn't slept in 1.5-2 days...

I get really confused about her hair too...she talks about putting it in *a* french braid, yet 2 sentences later she's talking about how she's now adjusting her *braids*. It's almost as if the author has her in mental cornrows and is always forgetting about it. This has been happening since book 1. And how do you hide a gun in a french braid?
At least the turban seems to be gone.

I get really confused about her hair too...she talks about ..."
Yes, im still on book one but confused about her hair too. Maybe it shifts on its own, lol her hair is its own entity....or she can change it at will.....

How is the reading going? Are you jumping ahead, or getting bored? Are you enjoying the storyline? Still hating Rick? Let's hear it!

My library indeed has Inter-Library Loans and now that I have asked about them, I have Raven Cursed on its' way, although it could take up to 2 weeks. I'll get caught up, though :)

Not done Raven Cursed yet, but I agree with you on Jane blaming herself for everyone else's decisions. She gave the paintings to someone who to the best of her knowledge was an honest "white" witch who would either store them safely away from evil, or destroy them. She had the diamond locked up, not her fault it was stolen. How is it *her* fault 2 nutso werewolves figured out where she went and followed her after they got out of jail? It's not her fault the grindy was pregnant when Kem and his lady travelled overseas and came across the group of wolves.

It's not Jane's fault baddies were strong enough to get through the wards set and steal the children. The fact Jane rescued the kids unharmed (for the most part?) shows she did her job.
Right now it seems like Jane's had 5 hours of sleep in 6 days, and is never being given a chance to rest. Instead of skipping out on her responsibilities for even a cat-nap, she's going above and beyond to help everyone.

I had a couple old friends pass away this month, 3 weeks apart and under terrible circumstances, and am having trouble concentrating on books that aren't making me happy to read them. Maybe I'll try to catch up to you guys later when I'm "feeling it"
