Meghan | 686 comments So far, the part about Technomancy has been one of my favorite parts. It was really interesting especially because I have always enjoyed science any way.

What did you think about it?
Do you think it works with the original Harry Potter story? Why or why not?

ஐ Katya (Book Queen)ஐ (katyabookqueen) I think its great. It helps to understand the science behind the magic. If you follow the links to the authors website, there is a link for the grotto forum. There, you will find a Technomancy 101 textbook you can download as an ebook. It's about 15 pages or so. Very interesting.

Aegine | 359 comments I sorta got lost. I'm not too great in science anyways and some of the stuff seemed really advanced for first years. I was sorta wondering if the author read The Science of Harry Potter? I haven't read it-and I need to- but I wonder if he got any of his ideas from that or if it was orginal. I'd say that this Technomancy stuff isn't like the books but they really didn't go into details behind all the wand waving.

ஐ Katya (Book Queen)ஐ (katyabookqueen) The idea of Technomancy I think came from Terry Pritchett books. (He references this on the last page or two of his book). I know Rowling didn't mention it, but it wouldn't surprise me any that the school would have a science class. They are just learning the background behind, for example, the differences behind different kinds of magical paintings and portraits. I'm sure as far as class difficulty goes, it would be simplier for first years and more advanced as you get older, just like our muggle science classes.

Aegine | 359 comments Hmm true. I need to reread it again to understand it fully.

Meghan | 686 comments Technomancy seems like a cool subject. I'm sure I would get lost sometimes. I did while reading, but I understood most of what Professor Jackson said.
I don't actually think it feels like something that would be in Harry Potter though. When you read Harry Potter, there is a certain feel about it, but the feeling I got from reading HEC was very different.

Aegine | 359 comments It's still interesting to get into the different theories on how magic works.

ஐ Katya (Book Queen)ஐ (katyabookqueen) I really loved the explanation of magical portraits and paintings.

Aegine | 359 comments I liked the creepy clown and how Snape added to differnt portraits. That was really clever to add that in.

Aegine | 359 comments Yeah he was! I was a little sad that he was destroyed...and creeped out when Jackson did it to his own painting. I wouldn't destroy anything of mine unless it's really really crappy...
