Dmorri (voodoo71) | 17 comments I saw this quote today " everything that you are going through is preparing you for what you asked for."
I was hoping a few people could give me their thoughts on this.

I personally would agree with that Debbie - I think we need a lot of courage to follow the voice of our soul, and making changes to support our soul's / spiritual path. If we had to make those changes in an instant, we'd turn right around and go back to our old comfortable ways! But if we're able to approach, experience or overcome each new event or experience as it comes to us, it helps us prepare and strengthen us for the journey!

Barbara | 127 comments Debbie, I think your quote reminds us that sometimes we see or we hope that the path to a new destination is very direct and quick.
We want what we want, and we want it now. However, we may not be ready for the full reality of that new destination without going through the steps along the way. We are hoping for a sprint, but the reality may be a long and winding road. What we need is the preparation of the long and winding road. I hope this makes sense to you - not sure I said it that well.

Dmorri (voodoo71) | 17 comments You both explained your thoughts well. I was applying this to a friend who has had extreme amounts of pain and health issues... trying to comfort her... this may not be the right quote for her. lol
Barbara, you and Saiisha both have such a way with words. I have always admired people who are able to put their words in to, what I consider poetry. :)

Thank you Debbie, that's so kind of you to say!!
Can I ask what kind of health issues? Is she a reader like you? Would she appreciate "Your Soul's Plan" by Robert Schwartz? Even if you can't ease her pain, it might comfort her to know that her pain is part of learning.

She has had severe pain, been to so many doctors, they cant quite diagnosis her. Back pain, facial numbness, hands swelling, possibly a blood disorder. I feel so bad for her. She is at her wits end. When she tells me she's on the verge of a breakdown...or worse...it scares me. I want to offer her comfort, that's all i can do to help at this point.
I did suggest the book you mentioned. Thank you.

It is a tough one! We should be always learning, changing, and growing.

You're welcome Debbie - you're right, it's natural to feel helpless when someone is in pain and you can't really heal it. But being there for her, creating positive, loving vibrations around her goes a long way toward making her feel better!
