Apparently you can do it on an ipad Alik. I don't use one, but I'm going on what others have said who DO use them. Do you have your settings on your ipad at desktop? I think you have to do that first :)

Ryan Alik wrote: "But can you only do that when you are on a computer? I only own an iPad (I have no need to own a laptop or desktop computer) and can't see any of these functionalities on my phone or iPad?"
Use your Safari browser rather than the Goodreads app, if you want increased functionality. Though there may be a need to switch to the desktop view, as Brenda mentions. I don't remember how to do this, or if it's even necessary from the browser.

Sally906 | 87 comments If you use the app on your iPad you can't do diddly squat - I always open the browser.

Right now on app on my phone so can't link anything. I tend not to mention books or reply directly to people when in app. If I have to do either of those things I close app down and open browser

 Li'l Owl | 2504 comments Hi Arika,
I don't have a computer, either.

I do everything on my phone almost 100% of the time. I've found that the Goodreads app for tablets and phones DOESN'T WORK at all for me. Just as Sally says, I, too go online with a web browser to the Goodreads website. Once there, I can do everything that I could do on my smart phone or tablet as if I were using a computer.
I think that this way you can do everything on your iPad as well.

To start, go online and open up a brand new web browser page. I don't think it matters which one like Safari, Firefox, etc. I use Google Chrome, but again I don't think it matters if you use just Google without the Chrome part it should work just fine.

***If you try to click on this link while you're still in the app it won't work. I tried it. So I recommend that you copy the address down to a piece of paper or cut and paste it to the web browser if need be.
Then type this website address:

https://www.goodreads.com

It should bring you to the browser's web page and the Goodreads main home page. You should then see a place to sign in in the upper right hand corner of the page. Now, just sign in and you should be good to go. You should be able to do all the good stuff like linking books and authors, etc. Hope this helps. =o)

Please let me know if this works for you and, If I can help any further please feel free to ask me or anyone here. We are all good resources. =o)

Andrea | 2164 comments I started reading The End of the Day last night. It's a breath of fresh air so far. And having only read The Sudden Appearance of Hope a few months ago, I can certainly see some style continuity already.

message 1559: by Ryan (new)

Ryan I just started reading Frank Herbert's Dune.

I just finished the handmaid's tale and I loved the book . There was so much going on the book that I had to read it for 2nd time to make sure I did not miss anything . There is also a movie of the handmaids tale that was made in 1990 that helped me to understand the book better.

Carolyn | 9837 comments I've just started Adrian McKinty's latest release, Police at the Station and They Don't Look Friendly and it's so good. He is such a good writer and his dialogue with the locals and the other police is often so funny I couldn't help laughing out loud on a packed train this morning.

Thanks Owl! I'm about 15% into my audiobook of Déjà Dead by Kathy Reichs, and finding it rather fascinating so far - such vivid detail!

Also continuing with The Shifting Fog by Kate Morton. Quite brilliant, but also a bit of a monster in terms of volume!

It sounds like there are some excellent reads to explore! :)
