What Are You Currently Reading? (doesn't have to be an Aussie book) - Part 2
I am really enjoying Skin Deep by Gary Kemble. He grew up in Brisbane and he has it well summed up. I can see a few reccys flying out to ARs when I'm done, and luckily I have the second in the Harry Hendrick series Bad Blood to enjoy too.
Just finished Jack West Jr and the Hero's Helmet by Matthew Reilly, which was a lot of fun as a prequel. Now there's only just over a month to go...
I really enjoyed VOID by David M. Staniforth. It gave me the exact same feeling I had when reading The Farm by Tom Rob Smith in terms of the level of engagement I had with the story. Great job!

Hi Brenda
thanks for doing the link. How do you do it? I tried right clicking to add a hyperlink but for some weird reason it won't do it on here for me.
When you come to write a comment, you'll see "add book/author" just above the comment box on the right. From there, you can type in the author as well as the book's name, which will come up as a link when you post it.

thank you so much! Geez, I can't believe I didn't see it myself *sheepish grin*. This has helped heaps.

My Mum, who is 81 and lives in another state, and I are reading Moby Dick together. She has always wanted to read it and I have too but have been put off by people saying it's boring. We read a set number of chapters during the week and then discuss it in our weekly phone call as she doesn't have Internet. And guess what? It's proving to be a fun read!! I'm loving the wonderful writing and original characters but Mum complained that there are too many adjectives, although I think she's enjoying it.

Just starting All the Ugly and Wonderful Things by Bryn Greenwood ...it comes highly recommended by my GR friends :)
I am starting The Ballroom by Anna Hope again. It's been a gap of three days since I picked it up and my brain has not retained the finer points of the story. It's better if I read an entire book over a period of two/three days like I used to than drag it out, with gaps and small sections at a time.
I've just started The Couple Next Door by Shari Lapena. Michael's review tempted me into getting this one. It is very good so far :)
Currently reading Northern Heat by Helene Young. Not getting much reading time these days, life keeps intruding.
I'm reading my very last Kay Scarpetta book: I vowed after the last one I read that I would only read this one because I already had it. The last one was packed so tightly with mind-numbing but irrelevant detail that I did not want to spend any more precious reading time on these unlikeable characters. Well, the characters in Flesh and Blood by Patricia Cornwell haven't improved, but there is less of the useless detail. And Phrynne said it ends on a cliff-hanger. I'll see how I feel at the end about borrowing the next one from the library.... and maybe Phrynne will have reviewed it by then and can just tell me who did it....LOL

No I haven't read it yet Marianne. I might borrow it from the library one day but I am not in a rush:)

Understandable!
I've decided to go back and re-read From Russia With Love by Ian Fleming which I'm really looking forward to, especially since it has one of the best pairings of hero and villain that I've come across.
I've just started Bad Blood by Gary Kemble and I think I should warn anyone planning to read Skin Deep, which is the first book in the Harry Hendrick series, that they should definitely read it before this one as there's a big spoiler for that book at the beginning of Bad Blood
Thanks, Brenda/B! ;) I love the movie as well, it definitely has one of the best villains out of all the Bond films/books.

That's a shame!
That's a shame!
not if you read them in the right order. Just trying to give everyone a heads up, they need to be read in order
That's what I mean - for someone who isn't aware (and it happens) and picks up the second book first, they'd be disappointed...
I just made sure Veronica knew, as she has the 2nd book marked as "next up". My library has them, so maybe hers does too...
I am reading 'The Ice Limit ' by Preston & Child, also re-reading Nevada Barr's Blind Decent.Brenda P
I'm reading The Summer that Melted Everything by Tiffany McDaniel. Took me a little while to get into but I'm sold now. Amazingly good prose for a debut novel!
Currently reading "Hard Going" by British crime author Cynthia Harrod-Eagles. It's about the fourth I've read of hers and love the characters and one-liners. As a struggling author I relish reading books that have me laughing out loud.
